im not terribly knowlegable about stang's, however my buddy has a upgrade old school 5.0 from late 80's and same thing with third........he told me he has to give it a good push to get er in. idk if this apply's here but thought i would throw my two sense out there. Car sounds great man.

What is with always missing 3rd. Does this have something to do with the cheap transmission these cars use.

 

Don't know lol.. I'm used to cheap transmissions.. I owned a cobalt SS/TC

Ive never had problems missing gears though.

 

Neither did I.. just felt loose and sloppy compared to this transmission, the gates are a lot smaller on these, like said above.. aftermarket brackets help aloottt

 

It does sound good and pulls good.

 

looks slow.

 

the shifter on the 5.0 is crazy short and small lol. the gates are tight too. u get like all the gears inbetween what we have from 1-3 lol. its crazy short shifts. the brackets tdo help, a customer had them installed at our shop, and it felt great.
also the tras arent cheap, they can take a beating.

and yes the boss 302 with the track key is a beast, with small mods its great car.

an the new shelby gt500 = 650hp and sounds amaaaaaaazing lumpy like a cammed car. cant wait till people put more aggresive cams on the car.

You do realize a lot of people had issues with their made in china transmissions right?

 

yeah, and some needed the upgraded shift spacers and were good with just that.

derek, your car looks a lot faster than a stock 5.0 with the 3:73 pack. I raced one twice the other day and beat it from 40-120 by a bus.
What do you have like 400-410whp now? stock one is 360-370whp, so you gotta be at least around there...sounds awesome and looks like a beast.

 

From what I'm told by local 5.0 guys and guys on svtp, around 420whp, give or take. Comparing it to my cobalt, it feels ALOT faster, I ran these same cars in the balt, beat em both but not nearly as bad

 

That 4.6 looks almost like he is tapping the brakes on shifts lmao. He needs to work on that.

420whp is nice. probably around 390-400wtq too...plus those motors have great top end too...im really thinking about a base, all black 5.0 2012 for 26k in tampa...just havent pulled the trigger yet.

 

Viewing it form the Z's perspective.. I bet he wants to trade his car in! That must have really hert to get reeled in like that!

 

26 isn't bad.. that's what I paid for mine.. not a single regret haha I miss the balt but not enough to choose it over this lol


He's doing a few mods.. nothing that would really change the outcome but he does want a 5.0 haha he's a cool dude.. met him out at the local meet here in jax awhile ago, turns out we're both from Buffalo LOL
