I was laughing at my friend the other night because when he first saw my car he was like "I can still beat you", so laughed in his face. Has anyone raced a 2004 SXT in here yet so I can show him proof that he'd lose so I don't have to waste my gas on him?

 

If he's an automatic, no problem. If he's a manual then it's a driver's race. He's lighter with 5 more hp.

if i'm not mistaken, the SXT, which is just a base model with some non-performance upgrades, has like 130 hp and not a whole lot of tq... you should be able to take it no problem... it's really not a fast car at all

Yeah, I knew that but he still doesn't think so. He's one of those people where he thinks every car he gets will smoke anything out there. I've beaten a Grand Am last weekend, so there is def. no question I'd win.

By the way, correct me if im wrong but I think I would still kill a manual transmission as well.

 

Yes you would. He is a bit lighter but the Ecotec is 10X the engine. Your extra torque and hp will murder him.

 

For some reason I remember back when they did the 2000 refresh, that all models were getting the 150hp dohc as the base engine. I guess they changed their minds!

Maybe that was the plan but it never haapend. R/T modes got a 150hp SOHC though. For some reason they dropped the DOHC when they moved from the older platform to the newer one.

 

just go race him already. and if you dont tell me where your from in ct. so i can go over the boarder in my 2.2 and beat him myself (from mass)

I've raced many SXTs in my auto 2.2...

Cobalt > SXT every time by far.

Even won easily against a modded one with E/H/I, according to the owner...could only see/hear the exhaust.

 

hahaha, just raced him tonight and it wasn't even CLOSE! I smoked him. You guys would have died laughing if you saw his face. All our friends were there and everything too, and they got to see the humiliation. It was funny how much crap he talked right up until the race. He didn't even stick around afterward, he just went home claiming "he was tired".

Yeah, it made me feel pretty damn good, altough i knew what the outcome was gonna be even before we started.

 

yeah they are slow as ****, i test drove one before i got my cobalt for ***** and giggles and it was horrible
