GMS1 SS/TC vs. 350z Coupe

I guess everyone here knows how it will play out, but I was pretty surprised myself. From a dig, we were neck and neck all of first gear (due to the TC's torque limiting), but once I NLS to second gear (which wasn't even necessary) I started pulling like a beast, I mean I literally RAPED the Z. I think by the end of 2nd gear I had 4-5 car lengths at least...maybe more lol. I honestly thought the 350z was faster than that.

*I take back the statement of 4-5 car lengths, he may have let off the throttle. I did pull a full car length by 50mph though.*

4-5 cars in 2nd gear? I think the 350z hit the brakes.

I doubt it, he screeched into second as I was hauling away. He started to catch quick up after I hit the brakes so he was moving pretty good, and i only took it up to 70mph. Maybe the 4-5 lengths might be much but either way I pulled hard in second and he got smaller in the mirror pretty quick.

You probably pulled a car in 2nd, but were so overwhelmed by the extra 20hp GMs1 gave you that as you came yourself the orgasm skewed your preception of reality and you saw 4-5 cars difference.

I raced a '07 350Z last week from a dig, i have trifecta 22psi tune, and in first gear i was as fast, then 2nd gear i had too much wheelspin so couldnt catch up, but was still as fast, then no lift shift in 3rd gear, then i was pulling on him without trouble, took about 2 cars in 3rd on him.

But i cant see how you could get 4-5 cars in 2nd gear only?

i doubt you could even get 4-5 cars in 2nd gear only vs. a car cruising at 40mph, you will have to shift before that.

Did you meant 4-5 ''RC cars'' lenght on him? lol

to mike peperni...i have the same tune with some supporting mods and just installed front and rear sway bars, i can almost keep the pedal down in second without frying my tires, basically they helped with my traction issues a little bit, may want to look into them

I will look for that, thank you!
Weather is still a bit cold here, traction will probably improve in summer, i hope!

im afraid i'll have to agree with that **** disturber slow_sho on this one :P ... i have GMS1 and it's fast but not that fast... hell i had two guys playing in a v6 hyundai sonata the other day... and i didn't pull away from them that hard... mind you they were already going at a pretty good speed by the time i noticed them attempting to pass me so it's hard to say... never raced anyone starting from the same speed before... it's always some guy that comes flying up on my ass and tailgates me or attempts to pass and i take it to third to leave them in my dust ...

There's no doubt in my mind that you beat the Z but I agree with the others in saying that it probably wasn't by 4-5 car lengths in 2nd gear.

Hmm...well he may have let off the throttle at some point in second but I definitely pulled hard because the 1-2 NLS, he was trying there because he screeched going from 1 to 2. Once I got off the clutch from 1 to 2 I immediately pulled a car length on him. I had no traction issues on that run WOT, and sometimes I do, it depends on the road. I'm sure he wasn't a great driver though because if he was, he should have taken me off the initial launch because although I didn't have a bad one, it was a little bogged...I wasn't sure if he was going to run me or not.

And SLOWSHO, I know that GMS1 isn't blisteringly fast, in fact I never call my car "fast", I'll call it "kinda quick" at best. There is a definite difference between stock and GMS1 in second gear if you can get traction though, I honestly it feel it shaved about 0.5s off my 60-110km/h time. Also your statement of the 20hp gain, remember that's 20hp at peak, a large section of the powerband is seeing about a 50hp increase. Either way the race was mostly legit and I was amazed how quickly I pulled initially after the 1-2 shift, maybe I figured he was still going flat out, but either way I pulled hard at first and he was trying.

Holy **** that 22psi tune added a lot of power. If I do get tire spin (on winter tires by the way) I find it only affects me to 5000rpm in second gear (about 80km/h) and it looks like yours is spinning up to 100km/h. There's huge improvement in your 3rd gear accel too!

Honestly though as much as I'd love more power, I don't think I need any because I can barely keep the tires planted in second as it is, and I don't do much racing beyond 75mph (i'm a 0-60 kinda guy) so for me adding power is somewhat useless without slicks or something.

yeah , im sure the GMS1 is still a nice upgrade over stock
Probably the guy left off when he seen he couldnt keep with you dont know, or may be it was an auto and an earlier 350Z ? cant say.

Probably still a lot of fun!

I really like my 22 psi tune, i thought i would like more but its plenty enought for me right now.
I dont think i will go any further
