I'm sorry but that statment made me chuckle a little. An all wheel drive car that runs high tens is scary as heck and too much power on the street? There are stock Vettes and Vipers that only power 2 wheels that run tens stock and have lots of torque down low, and they seem to do fine on the street every day. When you talk about a bigger single turbo cars I bet it is pretty tame down low before you hit boost and in that case will be fine to drive to the store or mall. Plus, that way you described it they won't be running around the street on race gas and high boost every day. That is why it is funny to race faster turbo cars. They make one thing on high boost and race gas, but unless you catch them at the strip on that set up anytime you run into them on the street they are half as "fast" as they say they are.
Good runs Slo, you certainly have one of the faster bolt on goats. Are you going to finish with full bolt ons, or do you have more plans? Me, once it isn't a DD anymore I plan on going right to L92/L76 with supporting bolt ons (no point in lally daggling right?)
Are you on the stock clutch by chance? How many miles on your car?

Didn't know run flats were considered slicks?

Not to mention there will be more Vipers there, and it isn't if but when the ZR1 finally hits the 10's. No tires needed...
I agree, half as fast was just an exaggeration but you get the point. So many of them claim 6XX hp or something but are upper 4XX when not on race gas and high boost.
IMO a STI isn't a good DD no matter what the HP. I looked at them before my goat and that was the hardest riding car ever (more so then a Z06). Horrible sightliness with the big wing and front scoop, and when doing a semi hard brake test every crack in the road translated to ABS kicking in. That car is best suited as a short road course or auto X car on the weekend where its suspension and all wheel drive can shine (it handled awesome!).

Ok crewcheif, you are right. IMO, having been in an STI with that much power, it isn't an ideal car to want to drive on a DD basis. There are plenty of people that do it, I'm just not one that wants to do it right now. Just to info you, there are also plenty that run 10's on pump 93 also. Also your statement about half as fast on the street is incorrect--the correct statement is "not as fast".

that is impressive, but come on man 10.98 and 10.92?? thats barely a ten second slip. if they wouldnt have taken a **** before those passes they would be 11 seconds. Those are two consistently low 11 second cars

I drive mine everyday on RCE yellow springs and it rides great. Yes, your gonna feel bumps, but that is mainly due to the tires that come stock on them. They are some of the stiffest tires I've ever been on. I've been in several goats and they ride pretty nice but they aren't "Cadilac like" either. I'll give it to you, the wing does block a little viewing in the back but it isn't horrible like my old SS/SC was. The hood scoop doesn't cause any issues at all. The worst cars for seeing out the front window were firebirds and camaros.
I don't know what you are refering to about the brakes, (6 piston front brembos, 4 piston rear brembos) that is 20 pistons of supreme stopping power! Look up the braking performance for STI's; there aren't many car's that can stop faster. I've never had my ABS kick in on a dry or wet road, ever. The only time it did was on summer tires driving in the snow, which completely sucks and should never be attempted!!
All in all it has (so far) been the best "well rounded" car I've ever been in. Handling is great, it's quick, rides fine, looks good, interior quality is good, trunk space is huge, gas mileage isn't too bad, and it's a beast in all weather conditions.
I would still like to own a goat too!

Anyways, so that's your Balt and you're from Ct.?
As of yet, I haven't met up with any stock SS/T's in my area to see how my GMPP S2 + 0 fairs up against them on the road (my "same Day/Same Dyno Test" thread showed hp was very close).

I've been posting trying to find out if anyone from css.net was in that vid. Thought it would have been in the "Video" or "Drag Racing" section.

I've got an 07 SC Stage 2 (no other mods)
Here's the CSS thread where I did a same day/same dyno of my car vs. a stock SS/T:

And a video of that session on Streetfire:

I wasn't saying they were lacking in the performance area, I was just talking about with the road I was on and the stiffness of the suspension that the ABS was kicking in while I was trying to slow the car some what hard. It was a rougher road and the suspension wasn't allowing the tires to stay in contact the whole time with the road. I know that car can stop being fairly light with those brakes on it!
STI's and EVO's are awesome on short tight tracks and auto cross tracks, they would be great cars to have to drive those on the weekends. Me, I would probably rather take the regular WRX with some mods for daily driving and keep the STI as a track queen.

Of course, you realize there's a huge difference in the track ability of an awd vehicle.
I also don't like the fact that many of these races were not done under controlled/similar Circumstances.

My mother's side were all factory workers from Flint MI. Worked for GM, Fisher Body, and Buick their entire lives until retiring. Nice to see we are making stuff, aside from trucks that is worth buying.
The Vettes also rocked that list for a fraction of the cost of their competitors.

Yes it did, and I was really pleased to see that.

Yeah, some people give a ton of grief over US vs. Foreign built cars, but we've come a heck of a long way over the years. My car is over 2 years old and the only major problem was the dealer had to replace my clutch assembly a few months after I bought it (all taken care of under warranty). No major problems since then.
So my Balt doesn't have a walnut dash with fine leather inserts. LOL It also doesn't cost 50k, and it can keep up with vehicles twice it's price. Same for the Vette and it's competitors.

Wow, a whole bunch of your family were GM workers? You do that too?

My little LS has almost 120k on the clock and never a major issue. My friends Hondas and Toyotas have had more problems.
