GXP GP vs SS/SC

So I got a friend with the GXP grand prix and we decided to see how my little 'balt could do againts a v8. We did the 1st roll from about 30mph. After the 3rd honk, we both gassed it and he grabbed about a half car on me and stayed. But as soon as I got up to about 45 mph, i started to pull, and I overtook him by about 1 car and we shut it down around 80ish. Next we did one from a dead stop. After the honks, we both launched and it was even. At the 1st-2nd shift, i started to pull on him and by about 80 again i was about 1 car ahead. I am stock and he is stock.. I thought i did pretty good

Good kill! Bet he respects your car more now.
I raced a Monte carlo SS the last ones with the same LS4. I just had intake and tuned and got him by a car too!. He had some work done also, idk what though. It was my first V8 kill though

That seems really close to what both should be running.

Relax Jesse. It is really amusing how most of the V8 w-body cars think they are the fastest things on wheels. It is fun smashing their ego.

LS4 in the GXP is a joke of a v8. Weak trans, really poor aftermarket support. Sounds good but that's about it. On a GP I would much rather have a 3800.

Yep the LS4 is a pretty easy takedown for even a Stage 2 SS S/C. I raced one a long time ago, then found his post on a local forum. He made it sound like he left me in the dust, when in fact it was the opposite. He just didnt want to register the loss I guess. lol

Yep. If I had cash laying around I'd scoop up a 2005 Bonneville SSEi with the 3800 S/C in it.

Its a good thing the 3800 was put in practically every car GM offered. They are a dime a dozen to find so if you pop a motor, just drop another in. I plan on buying up a couple down the road to have just in case I need them.

nice kill, I agree with the 3800. My g/fs parents have a GP 3800 just sitting and dying in their drive way. I was going to buy it with tax return money but did not get back what I expected.
