I dont know much about them.
but I do know i saw one running 12s up here.
but that bitch had thousands dropped into the engine.
Cant see something that big keeping up with a stage 2 cobalt without some serious $$ put in it.
But again....i dont know alot about them...so im not certain,

thanks, all he has is a chip. i am pretty confident but when he said he wanted to bet big bucks i got nervous. he said he would race me in 4 wheel drive turned on. thats 6 tires spinning! i dont know if i should do this or not......
from a roll you should walk him if thats all he's got.. he'll probably take you from a dig at first but i would imagine if you get a decent launch you should quickly take the lead in 2nd..
found this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syONs786S40 but thats bigger turbo and injectors.. not only a chip.
and this was on the related links.. thought it was badass... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IOpuGVoyCk holy launch!

Well if its a 2000 thats the 5.9 24 valve and if he has just a chip you will be able to take him hands down especially if hes a dually. He will smoke your ass off the line put after that first shift youll start catching up. Just make sure you go a full 1/4 mile. The biggest chips on those trucks add around 100-125 hp and 200-225 ft. lbs. and thats the expensive ones. However I wouldnt take his word for it that hes stock those engines are to easy to put injectors in and youd never know along withmany other mods. Bottom line dont do it for money because you cant trust him. Do you know what kind of chip it is?
For refrence my buddy has the same motor in his truck its a 99' 2500 4X4 with: Turbo - has hit 48 psi before, Injectors, off-road injection pump, pusher pump, street cam, edge tuner stacked with superchips, intake, exhaust, and one hell of a tranny. We havent actually run an official 1/4 mile yet but hed take me and I know it. With 4 wheel drive he launches with about 40 psi and spins all four leaving me behind. From a roll I slowly, very slowly pull on him and he still needs to have his tranny adjusted. Hes pushin close to 500 HP and 900 ft. lbs. If you can get any more info on the truck I can give you a better idea, but if hes really has just a chip you should def take him with stage II.
O and that vid is of the 5.9 common rail which is more responsive to mods than the 2000 5.9 . Is that what you meant by 200? year 2000 model?

I raced my uncles 2006 6.0 PowerJoke Dually Crew Cab 8 Foot bed and he jumped out to a good 2 car lead but thats about as far as he got before i started reeling him in from a dig too. Probably took me an 8th mile to be bumper to bumper but i was still pulling. He has a 250hp chip with a tranny computer too. I don't think he launched from 4-wheel but he smoked the street out pretty good with black and white smoke. I think stock 6.0 push 315 or 325hp to the crank not sure to the wheels.
i want a turbo diesel truck. Be careful, they mod like nothing else. 200 ft lbs from a canned tune on some of them WTF! with a dyno tune and some boost control 300 ft lbs + HOLY JESUS CHRIST 1,000 ft lbs for a few grand here i come!

okay i just talked to him, its not a chip, its a bully dog programmer, also his truck is a 05. that is his only mod. so what do you think? im a decent driver and we are gonna do it from a 5mph roll. we are going to race to 100.

if we do a dig, wouldnt he smoke me off the line because he will have more traction and torque? at a 5mph roll i dont have to worry about wheel spin or anything.
at 5mph you will have tons of wheel spin if you go WOT.. you'll have to ease into it..
i've never heard of a 5 roll going to a cobalt.
if your launch is good, you should take him easily. those duallys are REALLY slow. my neighbor has one. great for pulling stuff, no doubt. it would take ALOT of mods for him to take a stage 2 balt though.
i think he's at like 30psi.
30psi in dually<15psi in cobalt
hitting 11's is possible for any vehicle. but it costs as much as buying a fast car.
i seriously doubt that the truck in question could even hit a 15.00
those things aren't even a race for a D16 civic

do you know how to launch your car?
24psi in the rubber has been working for me at the track. try that. i would do 1 or 2 practice launches on your way to meet up with him too. just to get rid of the jitters and get everything dialed in.
becareful racing for money. does he know what "cards" you have in your hand?
it worries me that he wants to race for money, but at the same time, it dosen't. i think that he feels he is putting some ricer fanboi in his place. what he dosen't know is that the cobalt isn't burning rice
let me rephraise that, have you ever ran the balt at the track? if so what were your 60' times, and 1/4 mile times?
also note mods that you had when you ran it.

Cliff notes: If you can drive youll take him.
He wants to go from a 5mph roll because HE'LL have less spinning, yet still have all the torque of his low gear. He will DESTROY you from a 5mph and you may not ever catch up.
Someone mentioned before, either go from a dig or from a 40mph roll. You should be able to win from 40mph
From a dig you can have a real chance if you launch perfect and he burns his tires. I don't know about it if he's using AWD.

This is from a friend of a friend... on the redline forums...
2006 Ram Megacab Diesel - BullyDog programmer
14:41@96 race weight of 8200lbs. !!
If you're running Stage 2 you should be alright... just make sure you drive it perfectly.

be weary form a dig.. i have an older bro with a bank's built f250 crew cab 4x4. 460 horse and 760 TQ at the rear wheel's.. and he will eat my stage 2 comp pack rl of the line but ill catch him before the traps.. launching in 4by gives more traction off the line.. but once its going it suffer's from powertrain loss.. and unless he can switch it back and forth you should rape him from a 40 roll..
Things we need to know to give you a better answer:
- What the exact year of the Ram is
- What "chip" is he using
Someone who says they have a chip only and wants to race for money throws a flag up in my opinion. A lot of people will say they have a chip only but in fact they have supporting mods in addition to it like bigger injectors, which make a huge difference when a "chip" or programmer is involved. You do need to be careful from a dig though...especially with the 6-speed automatic tranny.

A chip can get them 150hp and 200+ftlb
bone stock I raced a f350 quad cab dually w/5 people. I was origionally told it had a chip but later on in a local online forum they claimed it was stock. He pulled 2 cars off of the line and I never caught all the way till 100mph where we stopped.

TOFU, this is what he said about the truck on page 1
Doh! Reading owns me. We really need to find out the year, the 24valves are much easier to mod vs. the common rail, but that only becomes apparent when more mods (especially a programmer/box is the only thing involved). If he is truly using only a programmer then you should still pull him. He may get the jump having a 6-speed auto and of course, low end torque..but with out any supporting mods (injectors, catback, etc.) he will not be able to take full advantage of the programmer/box whichever he is using.
