Ive seen some mega hp cars get beaten my far inferior hp cars by driver error shifting or traction issues with the high hp mule or whatever. I have major traction problems in my Z06 and our Cobalt (my sons I should say) can easily take me off the line and through a couple gears before I start realing it in.

Hes surprised a few Z06's at the track also and I have one instance on video I should post where he leaped a C5 Z06 by 3-4 cars off the line till the guy started to reeel him in about the 1/8 mile but the guy never caught up cause he just couldnt hook up even though it was bone stock (just barely beat him by .15).

 

I would love to see a Z06 go against a whipple cobra.

03-04 cobras have a completly forged motor...more than safely capable of holding more horse than a z06 even the new LS7's. I should know...my friend just bought a C6 Z06 and has to have his internals replaced to run a turbo.

Whipple cobra > than Z06...sorry.

I have seen whipples cobras putting out 780 whp on stock internals.

you better be talking about a c6 z06 (in which case i bow to you) because if you are tlaking about like a stock c5 z06, this specific cobra would run you down. Think about it this way, with his mods he should be trapping near 120, you shouldn't even be trapping 110 in the cobalt with your mods...this will be like a 2.2 racing an ss/sc with mods.

me and one of my classmates were talking a couple days ago about cars and he mentioned having a cobra with a supercharger pushing like 350-400rwhp

then the topic of supercharged cobalts came up, he mentioned that the cobalt actually kept up with him, he beat it by 2/3 car lengths, but dont know much about the race details such as dig, roll etc

 

well... i mean... i guess he could break down. or stall or something.

 

If you all were talking about an 01 Cobra with just a blower(or an older model, like the 94-8 body style), then adding ust a blower to a slow/heavy car would explain that outcome. A Terminator with mods WILL NOT have te same outcome, unless it is purely driver error.

 

Won't even be close man. A friend of mine has a 03 termie making 450rwhp to my 395rwhp. Between weight and aerodynamics it takes me till 120 to start inching away from him. I trap 115 on average in the 1/4. It also depends on the driver though.

 

It would have to have it's internals replaced cause it has a high compression ration. I dunno about you, but I'm not trying to turbo charge a car to high horsepower numbers with a 11.0:1 compression ratio (I think that's what the Vette has).

Whipple Cobra<Z06

Keep in mind the Z06 also weighs how much less than the Cobra?? Similarly powered Z06's will walk a Cobra anyday.

 

huh? stock z06 < whipple cobra. There are quite a few whipple cobras that can run low 10's. Of course i would rather have a c6 z06 to start with, but 600+rwhp in a 3600 lb car > 450rwhp in a 3200 lb car.

 

There are some pretty cool vids on ModularFords of a C6 Z06, 2 KB Cobras, and a fulley modded 07 GT500 doing some role races.

The Z06 wins every time.

Not sure if you know anything about whippled cobras...but a whippled cobra run about 700WHP with a relatively "big" pulley (compared to what it can run).

A whipple cobra will beat ANY stock Z06 and a VERY heavy moddified C5 Z06.

Again, if you run 700whp in a cobra you won't have to replace anything...if you run that in a Z06 your gonna bust differentials, trannies, pistons, rods, and the list keeps going on.

thats just an uninformed, unfamiliar with both cars statement right there.

 

there is more to speed that 1/4 times. a stock z06 will run circles around a SVT on a road course.

Last time I checked in...a low psi 600whp cobra was pulling 2-3 car lengths on the new Z06.
