i hate the track

so i went to the track last night and couldn't beat a 14.2. i should be around 13.5 i think. i just can't get my car to hook up. i am trapping a consistant 102mph. but 60's are around 2.3-2.4. but heres what made my night last night. after i left the track last night my boss pulled up next to me in his 1940 chevy truck (ran a 13.2 with low boost and shifting early) and wanted to try and make me feel worse about my car sucking at the track. well we did the good old 40mph roll. he jumped before the third honk and i still pulled 4 cars as i shifted to third. so that made me feel really good i guess.

BTW my bosses truck puts down 425hp and 425tq. if you were wondering.

passed down from many generations......the old saying "the track is a different animal"....I have heard that so many times. It is so true too. The street is so much easier than the track..lol and that sucks..

When your up at the starting line at the track watching the tree, If it's a street tree, go on yellow, trust me on this. If it's a pro tree, go on the third yellow.

Never go on green.

Pro tree flashes all three yellows at once before the green I believe, where as the street tree would flash three seperate yellows before the green.

you have them backwards. pro tree is all three yellows at the same time.

pro tree is all 3 at the same time.
sportsman tree is 1-2-3 and then go.
but RT dont play into his or your ET. you can sit there for 5 minutes and still get a 14.2 pass or have a RT of .000 and still get a 14.2

If you can, go during a a cool sunny day. Around 60-65 degrees. At night I also have issues with hooking up. During a cool day with the sun beating on the track, my 60s improve dramaticly.

IF you 60 is 2.3-2.4, your whole issue is in your launch. I don't know what kind of car your driving, but, I'll make a wager that either it is FWD or it has an independent rear suspension.

out of curiosity...what in your mods makes you think you should be 13.5?

well i am launching at like 2 grand and i still spin through the 60 foot. i think my tires are junk (falken ziex 912's). and it doesn't matter when you leave the tree because all that is is r/t. it doesn't reflect your time. you can sit there for 2 seconds if you want and its not gonna make your time 2 seconds slower.

the fact that last year i was doing 14.2's with a 3" pulley no exhaust mods, and no methanol. now i have all those things. and if i am trapping 102mph now then that is a mid 13.

something is definitely wrong. You are running a 2.8" pulley and I know from other threads that sometimes things get hairy when you drop to that size. You might want to get someone to take a look at the tuning. I'm running a 2.9" and trapped 106mph. I also pulled off a 2.2 60 foot and ET'd at 13.9 (judging by the trap and the reputation of the track I should be around a 13.7 or 13.8). I shouldn't technically be able to beat you. Figure it out because your car is definitely not running right.

It might not be the car. You'd be surprised what the weather can do to performance. There are times that my car can barely muster up 100mph @ 14.0's with 2.1 60's. Then when the weather is good I can bust out 13.8's @ 104+mph with 2.3 60's.

The tree has nothing to do with ET people.

If I ran a 13.5 @ 108 with a stage II GM pulley I think its all about the track and launch.

yea whats with all the "you need to watch the tree. I could literally take a nap at the tree and still run whatever my car is capable of. RT = no importance other than bracket racing.

im confused though...you said you pulled 4 cars on a car that ran a 13.2 from a 40 roll by the time you shifted into third? When the hell do you shift to third? i can't see you pulling that hard on a car that must trap 103-104+ without taking it up to at least like 120
