well legitimate issues would be the earlier stage2 sc vs stock tc. equal driver and such the tc wins. However ive seen sc'd stage 2s beat a newb tc.

Never bet money you can't aford to lose.

I wouldn't pull up to the line for less then $500 back in high school. I had a 12 second daily driven 454 powered 76 Monte Carlo with 4.11 gears, a 3500 stall, 2 1/2 inch dual exhaust with glass packs, a tunnel ram intake with 2 Holley 550 center squirter carbs. The ONLY way I could hook up was with 295/50 15 Mickey Thompson cheater slicks.

I only lost once.

die in a fire. lol i didnt mind losing the $$$. They were simple $20-$50 races, nothing big. The real racers only race for 500.00 around here and they are "fast" 10-12 sec cars. Win some and lose some.

Die in fire? Um...ok.

BTW that 12 sec Monte was back in 1990 and 91. Back then hardly anyone had 12 second street cars around here. Sure they exisisted but I never ran across any.

My 1 loss was when I wiped a cam and ran a 429 Mustang. In a later re-match I took a grand from him.

What are people with $20,000 cars doing races for 500 plus for? sounds like a really stupid gambling problem to me. Racing is fun, it's not a grudge match all the time. Most i have ever raced for was $300 at the track and that's because some idiot in a lid and exhaust ls1 was running his mouth about my "egg crate" and I had to take his money from him.

so racing for money in a 30k car makes more sense??? Some people don't like to give out charity runs....If they think a race is worth their time they'll do it for the race...if it's a waste they don't want to risk their car breaking for a slaughter because some guy in a slower car wanted to see what a fast car can do

Well it makes more sense if you are in a higher financial situation to be betting that much money. I think betting on races is dumb anyway, why not just race for fun? If both people know it's gonna be a slaughter (wanting to see what a fast car can do) why in the world would the one that knows he's slower bet 500 bucks? If it's gonna be a close race I just think betting that much cash is a dumb decision unless you make a lot of money. 500 bucks is quite a bit of cash. If you are running around with a 200k a year salary or something and 500 bucks is nothing for you its one thing, but i know that's not the case with most people here. just my 2 cents. I'm not tellin you how to run your life i just think it's a waste.

come down south where some of the buy ins have 4 digits (I've seen a 3k race).

And money makes sense because like I said, cars that fast can break on the street...why risk it with no pay off?? And one person can believe they'll be a good race while the other person doesn't....money helps set a middle ground

yea that makes alot of sense....buy into a race for 3k because you are worried about maybe 3-4k in damage? spend that money building your car to handle what you want to do and you wont have that worry. That's where that betted money should go. Otherwise you aren't gambling because of hte risk of breaking something you are gambling to gamble. Like i said it's your choice i just think it's kind of ridiculous especially going into the 4 digits where you are talking a large chunk of the price of your car.

guess you'd have to have a car fast enough to understand.... (135+ trap cars)

When you're making those kind of numbers....**** breaks dude. Even if it's built to a T...NOTHING is bulletproof especially at those power levels (I don't care what AMS or Buschur may have told you, I've seen their 9 second cars explode too)

The most expensive street race I ever saw was between 2 doctors that each had a 1969 Camaro pro street car. Each put up $100,000 for a best 2 out of 3. The twin turboed automatic beat the supercharged manual car all 3 times by at least a car.

How often do you see 9 second built drag cars racing on the street and how is your neon a 135+ trap car? I must be missing something here. I know enough about engine building you don't need to talk to me about that. btw i'd like to see one of these 9 second cars that costs $20,000. The majority of cars on the street that will trap 135+ are modified high end sports cars like vettes or shop cars that are worht 50k in themselves. my point is putting 500 down on a race between two high 13 second cars when most of the people here are running just exhaust or minor bolt on cars is stupid. that money is better spent modifying or on other things. I don't want to argue with you about it cause its an opinion not a fact.
