Ah yes, but I seem to remember Ford making a one off Miata that had a Duratec 3.8 a few years back. The Duratec is a light aluminum engine, but even then, it still destroyed the handling characteristics of the car because the weight split ended up being similar to a 1st Generation Viper--->ouch.
That and they had to put this HUGE powerbulge into the hood so that the engine would fit. Looked really dorky.
However the car turned in faster 1/4mi drag times than the Mustang Cobra of that same year (I'm guessing this probably had to be at least '02 before the Cobra was S/C'd.)
