LS VS SCiON 06

So my friend at work just got a brand new 06 scion coupe (tc i believe)

so he thought because it said his car had 160 hp and torque he would demolish my cobalt!

So we raced, the way we started the race was that he would honk 3 times.

Im thinking he is gonna do honk............honk..............honk!

He went Honk, Honk.............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .......HONK!

I messed up in first but still had him by the end of second.

By third gear i was a car length ahead, it was no competition, we raced one more time and with a good take off i destroyed him even more.

It was a good day all in all for my little LS coupe.

Unfortunately the closest thing to Scion in Canada is still the Celica...I don't think we'll be seeing the Scions for at least another year. I'm still waiting for my friend to have some spare time to try running him in his '04 Celica to see how well my LS holds up...as I posted a while ago this most likely won't be until next spring now since we're all retardedly busy and the snow is gonna start flying again . I was surprised though the first time I opened my LS against a 3.0L Mazda 6 how well it performed...I was expecting to get stomped but she held up nicely even though I still got my doors blown off once we hit 4th .

Not really. The 140HP Celica GT's are a good match for a standard Cobalt, and the 180HP GT-S model is slightly faster. However, both engines are very peaky and have little torque, which makes them difficult to launch. The powerband is similar to that in an RSX, which means no low-end grunt and all the power between 6K and redline. The GT model will run a high 15 to low 16 second 1/4 mile, while the GT-S will usually run a low 15 second 1/4.

As for the Scion, they are not light and nimble like the Celica. The tC weighs about the same as an SS S/C, and they have the big 2.4L Camry engine in them, which isn't exactly a high performance motor. They only put down about 130HP to the wheels, which puts them right in line with a standard 2.2 Cobalt, which will put down between 125-130HP at the wheels.

So they are a pretty even match for a Cobalt LS, but a joke for an SS Supercharged
