Mass Death by '06 BMW M5

I've had my Stage 2 SS S/C now for about 5 months and I finally got my loss cherry broken by a BMW M5. I know, I had no business racing an '06 BMW M5, I knew I was going to lose, but I figured I'd give it a go just to see what 80 grand buys. You never even see these cars where I live, let alone get an opportunity to have a go with one, so I couldn't say no. We went from a 20 roll, and by the end of first he was past my front bumper but hadn't pulled totally away yet, I think I even saw him look over briefly with a look on his face before putting another buslength on me by the end of second. By mid-third it was all over, I was more than six cars back and he was still pulling, so I shut it down after that. I don't think I did all that bad for a car with half the power (or the guy couldn't drive, take your pick), but man, are those quad-pipes huge or what?

Well, I guess it makes me less nervous about racing a skittle, right?

Nice. I used to not bother when I knew I was gonna loose. Now I look at it as a humble opportunity to get a front row seat to an awesome show... even if it means he thinks I challenged as an ignorant ricer.

And I'm wondering the whole time whether he had it in "power" mode or not ("power mode" turns out the full 500 horses, the normal driving mode is rated at 400), the M5 turns 0-60 in the low 4's and a quarter in the mid 12's when it's in that mode (I'm 1.5 seconds slower to both marks, hehe).

I very well could have lost to an M5 driver who didn't want to throw his car into warp-factor-9 mode, and judging by the shifts I heard, I probably did. The shifts sounded slower than the 7-speed SMG is rated for when it's put in "Automated manual mode", so I'm guessing it was left in "Automatic mode" the whole time. Oh well, he still had RWD and 160 HP on me at least, so i'm not complaining I'd love a rematch with the full beast though, just to see what a mid 12's quarter looks like.
