Me vs. 01 WS6

Last night Me and some buddies rolled down to mansfield for some hanging out. At about one in the morning there was a guy that came with my friend that had a Trans Am WS6 that wanted to do some runs. There was a V6 mustang California Special with a fully built motor and a vortech on 12psi, said it put down 337 at the wheel. The TA was a 01 had an LS6 intake, longtube headers, offroad X-pipe, corsa exhaust, cam, full race heads, and a 3800 stall(yea it was auto). Car made 394 whp and 406 torque. Best time out of the TA is 11.6's. Another car was a 03 looking mustang with cams, exhaust, and tuned. Last car was a 04 GTO intake, exhaust, tune. It came down to the TA and me as the two fastest, so our race was a 40 roll. From 40 I got the jump to about a quarter car and then shifting to third got another quarter car, once his car hit third at around 115 and me going into forth he started to pull back pretty hard and we shut down just over 120. The second race we went from 20 and he is right in the flash point for the converter he spun quite a bit and let out of it. He said I was the only person to ever beat him at a roll race. I think if he had a 6 speed it would have been different, he can go 155 in third right now.

Thats either him or his twin then lol. He lives literally 1000 ft from me. From what he told me he ran 11.8 @ 117MPH. I dont like the kid personally cause his parents buy him his parts (his 18) and paid for the car. But its a nice car none-the-less. Good kill!!!!

Does he do engine work in an engine shop? cause its him if he does. And do you live near dragway 42? He actually blew it up last night. We where going one last time and he said he revved it out to far before shifting and it hit the rev limiter and scattered the motor all over the highway. Huge hole in the side of the block.

Sounds about right, a 40 roll is a dead spot for the A4's. You jump out as he is in the mid range and it takes a while for him to freight train you then it has to shift.

Good runs!

Even with an auto, a full bolt on LS1 T/A with a cam and race heads is gonna pull pretty damn hard. I'm really surprised he cant run faster than a 11.8, and his dyno #'s suck really bad. My friend has a T/A with about the same mods, but not sure what heads he has and he put down 450whp and 440wtq. He needs to get re-tuned and re-dyno'd. Nice kills either way!!

He picked a 40 roll, with the 3800 stall its not a dead point.

Well I dont know to much about the TA's and other ls1's. he was on some sommimoto tires or something like that. He runs the same tires on the street and track.

I dont know alot either, I just know stock they dyno around 310-320whp, then after a simple cam/exhaust upgrade they're usually pushing 360-370whp, then you add his other mods and supposed "race heads", he should easily be in the 400+whp range. Like I said, my friend has an 01 WS6 T/A and with about the same mods as your friend he put down 450whp.

Did he change the gears? Stall doesn't change the gearing...

I didn't realize it had heads (race heads at that?), wonder what kind of "race heads" or what makes it a race head?

That is pretty poor numbers on the TA's part, sounds more like a Cam only TA...

I run a 4400rpm stall in my mustang and running from the roll it's hard to catch it off guard unless the rpm is way too low. If i'm cruising slow in 2nd (30mph at about 2500-2700rpm) and floor it the car revs to 4000+rpm and takes off. It's not as great as the hit if I were to take it to 4000rpm and hit on it at that point...but it's still 90% of the hit.
