so i get a text from a friend of mine last night. in the message, he tells me he has a buddy with a camaro z/28 that wants to run me. i had nothing else to do so i agreed. i went and met up with them and talked to the guy for a few minutes and headed across the border to mexico for a few runs. here's the result....

Z/28 mods-full exhaust, ls6 intake, and mti lid.

my mods-2.8 pulley, 60s, bad-mab header, zzp 3" catless dp, magnaflow exhaust, s3 h/e, dual pass, rotated trans mounts, untunned.

sorry for the semi-horrible video quality. the friend i had record needs a better camera.

yea. my tuner threw a basic file on just so it will get me by so i can pass inspection. i gotta fix my exhaust leak before he can fully tune me.

I'm at work and cant watch the vid... Any cliffs for me please? If I had to guess, if it is a roll race, and the Z-28 is a auto, then cobalt by a couple cars. If it is a manual, cobalt by a car.

from a dig, even race given both can drive.

I really dont think that is a z28... If it is I feel bad for the guy driving it. That was the worst launch I have ever seen in a Camaro.

looked like one to me... was probably an auto - and in desperate need of the old 'driver mod'

How does it look like one? I cant see any badges, Cant hear the thing, and I think it would have put up a better fight than that... I used to have a 1998 V6 camaro and people would always ask me is that a Z28? I had no badges or anything just looked mean as hell

That was a completely dead launch by the Camaro. I'm thinking doofus thought "traction control" meant he'd have an optimum launch! Looks like he cut power from the get go; either that or driver mod.

Also "full exhaust" what? You should be able to hear a good LS fourth gen's exhaust at WOT, and it sounded like -nothing.

Either way - a very, very respectable launch by you!

That cobalt with its mods would be a closer race for an lt1 with the lt1 pulling on top end... hope that makes youuuuuu feel better

Ill be going back to houston in december and ill see if he wants to run me in my Z28.. Ill show him what a basically stock ls1 would do.

ive pulled plenty ls1's on my old m62 setup. but i had alot more into mine than the op does as well

^ and ive pulled plenty of turbo balts and boosted to hell hondas in my z28... I dont doubt that you havent beaten ls1's but I really doubt that guy he raced had an ls1.. I know what they can do and it does not meet the standards lol

and btw if he does get a real tune, he can tear ur basically stock ls1 bra...been there done that

Well in that case you sound like a 4 banger fanboy... I love the sound of a deep growl of a V8. I also have a Cobalt but I prefer my Camaro dont be mad you got beat up on by some ls1's...

I hope he would be able to beat my STOCK ls1.

well to those wondering if its a real z28 or not, i can assure you it is. when i say full exhaust, he claimed to have hooker lt's and a flowmaster catback. yes it is an automatic. all races we did i let him choose the speed, and let him honk it off so there wouldnt be any excuses. the race in the vid was obviously from a dig. we sat at the light talking for a bit before it turned green and he asked if id do one from a dig and i told him f*** it. i knew i was gonna spin all the way through first due to needing better tires. we also did a 15 roll, 2 rolls from 30, and a 60. again, he chose every single speed. ill try and get pics of his car for those non believers of it being an ls1.

Based on jonathons mods his car doesnt sound like he would run a low 14. Stock turbo balts run 14 flats and ive seen many of them do so. and please post pictures of his engine bay! thanks

i like v8s too been an ls7 one of my favs but i stick to having good amounts of power making it efficient and getting over 25mpg. btw you can bring both ur stock lnf and ur ls1 so my lsj can **** all over them both
