Me Vs Evo MR

So theres this one kid who goes to my brothers school, and he has Evo 8 Mr. Only mods he has is an catback exhaust... this kid claims he is god... i mean he is one of them rich boys... so he comes to my brother and says i have an evo mr blah blah blah, my brother is like wanna run a cobalt, hes like na your too slow.. my brother was like yea sure. this kid then tells him that he raced a modded 03 or 04 Cobra and he ripped it 4 cars on a 80mph roll... my brother starts Laughing and said then you wont have an issue running a cobalt...kid agrees.

So we go on the highway, and from a 40 mph roll he jumps on me half a car then i rail him in 3rd gear and next thing i no, when i shift to 4th hes couple of cars back...

We go from a 60, he jumps on me like 5 feet then i just rail him in once again.

We go from an 80, and it is just murder..

But yea now this kid is talkin **** once again saying he beat me like bus lengths and all... my brother now keeps makin fun of the guy, and this kid in his school is like one of them *preppy* kids and all... so my brother walkin home, this kid wants to fight with him.. my brother is one of them people who doesnt like fighting cause he thinks it doesnt resolve anything. So kid wants to fight my bro, my bro is like na dude its all good, u won the race lets end it. No,this kid swings and my bro ducks and just grabs him by the arms and says cool down. he spits on his face and next thing you no my brother picks the dude up, and like powerbombs his ass and my brother knocks him like 3-4 times straight in the face... my brother being a junior 6,1 240 pounds linemen he is a strong ass ****** kid for his age. but yea, my brother doesnt get introuble at all cause he was defending himself...

Just thought i would share... haha. peace

I've been up against a few Evo's (6 or 7) on road tours; I’m as fast or faster than they R. My Balt also handles just as well as they do through the twisties.

The Evo guys always end the day knowing that the Balt is not a car to mess with…well not if I’m driving it

I dunno about those guys, but I don't try to mess with anyone. But I also don't think they are going to consider the Cobalt as a car not to mess with.

If you're confident to go against Evo's through twisties, then more power to you.

I've been on many road tours where the Evo's R tryin to keep up with me. The video doesnt show much but it give you and idea on the some of the Evo's Im ran with. It's only a few min out of 8hours of hard driving. I can keep up with them in the straights and through the twisties. Even the Evo drivers R ever surprised. The Evo inst some Car with magical powers.

in the right hands, the evo's are handle unbelievably. one of my buddies has a 430awhp evo with alot of suspension work and i wouldn't even feel confident racing that on a road course in a carrera gt.

The VIII MR is actually the rare car. They were limited production in america and came only in 2 colors.

I love the way my car handles. It's very easy to drive fast. I'm sure their are a couple Cobalts that handle really well. But my money would still be on an Evo when it come to a road course. Except that GM built Cobalt.

I can't tell, but I'm pretty sure you're being pretty condescending. If so, it must be really nice up there on that pedastal with your Cobalt.

And by the rare part, the VIII MR's were very limited production, unlike the IX MR which I have. I know in our whole city here which has like 20 something Evo's, I think there is 1 VIII MR.

I originally said that if you were confident to go against Evo's through the twisties then more power to you. I didn't impoy Evo's were "Magical" or whatever other smart remark you have cooked up after a couple hours of original thinking.

As far as I'm aware Cobalts are not renowned for their incredible handling....Evo's are. All over the world they are praised for the superior handling and there ability to do great at a track. You must think the whole world is full of it cause they can't beat your mighty Cobalt. If you lived closer, I'd be more than willing to race your Cobalt around a road course anyday.

I went up against a lightly modded evo at the track when I was doing my baseline stock runs with my 07 balt. This was not a MR, but it was a Evo, not sure what year. He had intake and some kind of intercooler mod. He killed me off the line, go figure, but I started to pull him in on the top end. He got me by .2 seconds, but I traped about 4 MPH faster which shows I was pulling him. That was when I was BONE stock with a full tank of gas, and I am not stock anymore. I know if I went up against him now I would pull him no problem, so evos can be beat by modded cobalts. I know that they can be very fast, and there are quite a few out here that run in the low 12's. But evo owners need to learn that they are not the fastest things on the road.

And Awetback, you need to grow up. Quit being a troll and a ASSHAT!!!!

My brother in law has an 05 EVO, I haven't had a chance to run it but I want to...I was gonna buy the car before he did and I test drove it and wasn't that impressed with it, speed wise and especially with interior and options it came with.
But he is getting rid of it after 7 months. He says he's been beat by every STi he's raced among other things including an SRT4. His clutch is about to go out, one tire is wearing really unevenly, and the carbon fiber wing is peeling and fading. He, being an actual owner, says the car is ****.

I don't think I'm the fastest thing on the road. Far from it. That's why I said most of the time I don't mess with people on the street.

I was debating road courses. In a straight line I feel the Cobalt is a pretty capable platform. I only have experience racing one and that was at the track. I was stock and he had mods and I know I killed him. My brother ran a 13.2 bone stock in his Evo with limited track experience. And our track isn't great. You see a lot of GTO's, Cobalts and other cars run pretty poor numbers here.

I would have to agree. I like the cobalt...but the Evo is a handling god. Its beats exotic cars handling wise! I wouldn't be confident unless I had major suspension mods. (coilovers, strut bar, sway bars, and some knuckles).

Hey Evolvr, dude, here in Illinois, Evo's are like Mitsubishi's civics, they're becoming like maggots. Its getting aggravating. I have jokes about the commonality here, but I love them and I think they deserve the respect they get, just sometimes SOME owners make teh lot look bad. I've met some cool evo guys. I gave one the thumbs up and he smiled and waved back. I felt good.

I just get tired of Seeing Evo's......magazines and everywhere else ALWAYS have them somewhere in their magazines as stories and features.

To Super_SS:

Nice man. I hate kids that go around saying they beat someone and they LOST. Thats stupid. I'm glad this kid got his ass beat. And no fighting doesn't prove anything. Tell that Evo to come to woodfield, then try saying that BS in front of all of us.

And you have more than stage 2! You lie!

To Awetback:

Dude...lay off. There are MANy memebrs who aren't in high school, there are also somne who are. Lay off, stop being snot-nosed about it.

The interior isn't great. Neither is the interior in the SRT-4, STi, Cobalt and a lot of other performance oriented cars. The STi Limited is pretty nice.

And I think your brother-in-law just can't drive. I know I can beat my budddy's Stage 2 STi with only an exhaust and a tune.

There is a TSB about the wings and the brakes paint peeling. They are supposed to replace them under warranty if you have any issues.

If the tires wearing out, more than likely he needs an alignment, or the tire pressure is low (which cause my front 2 to wear prematurely). If you keep those things in check, he still has to keep in mind the Advan's on the Evo's are known for wearing very fast.

And the clutch going out probably just proves more that he can't drive. I burned my clutch out in my car cause I ragged on it and had already ordered an Exedy Twin Disc. My brother has a few passes on his car and his clutch is still rock solid. I know of Evo owners with tons of passes on their clutches and they still hold fine. It's all in how you drive.

I think, him being the owner, he doesn't know how to drive his car and didn't know anything about the car before picking it up. And if it makes you feel better, I test drove the Cobalt SS and wasn't impressed with it at all. My SRT-4 felt faster stock for stock. And it was a lot cheaper than what Chevy wanted for an SS.

Different strokes. I've driven all the cars that seems to start pissing matches (Cobalt, SRT-4, STi, Evo, GTO) and I feel that my Evo is easily the best handling. A close second going to the STi. If I wanted to go in a striaght line only I would probably take the GTO. It is a great ride and has great overall power.

LOL, I know. It's great for us Evo owners.. shitty for everyone else. The Evo is a great platform, but there are a ton of other good platforms....one's that don't cost $30K+ new.

Thats cause the SRT-4 IS faster stock for stock. One of the BEST bang for buck cars ever!

And yes, I would without a doubt say the Evo is the best handling out of them...or the STI. But like you said, different strokes for different folks. Thank you for those words. Its a shame all these great cars have to get into the pissing matches.

...+ rep

PS: STI Interior > Evo's interior > SRT-4 & STI Limited

Man every issue has an evo in it, I mean man the car is nice, but so is variety.

I personally think the Evo and STI and GTO are some of the best 30K range cars out there. I USED to really, relaly like the Rx-8 until I found out that it is torqueless and S2k's for the same price runs circles around it. If I want 36K car, It better be able to hand a bunch of cars its ass, not vise versa.

PS: i'd personally like to se emore Evo 7's out there.

Joke Abotu EVO: *goes to HIN in his Evo* "Oh man, look, another Evo, I'll park next to it.......*leaving HIN...find his evo parked next to 30 other Evo's exactly like his* ****! Which one is mine?! *all the evo woners start to push their horn buttons* No!!!!

Hell yeah, variety is really nice. I would LOVE to have an LS1 powered R-7 right now!!

I really liked RX-8's as well. I test drove one, and it was a nice little car. One thing, I'm not that tall and even my head was hitting the ceiling. It sounded sweet screaming up to 9K RPM, but there was no torque to speak of. And the aftermarket support is total ****.

If you want a nice track car the Miata isn't a car to overlook either. I saw that the next Mazdaspeed Miata is going to have the turbo 2.3 in it. That car is going to be bad ass!!
