Me vs. Ram Hemi

Out where I am, there are more trucks than cars, and Hemi's are frickin' everywhere. One guy this morning decided he'd try my little 'balt on for size. We're out in the middle of nowhere, and this early in the morning (4am) there isn't anyone out but me and him out on this little county road between my house and work, so he starts getting a bit impatient behind me until the lanes open up to 2-wide each way.

He was a Ram 1500 Hemi, only lightly modded at best, definitely a louder exhaust though. Only mod I have is Stage 2, unless you count a short-throw shifter as a "mod". He pulled even with me, looked over and just floored it without warning. I'm doing about 60, too high for second gear IMO, so I push it into third and take off after him. He got a car and change off the jump because I thought twice about actually chasing him, and it took me a little bit to stop him from widening the gap, but by about 6k in third we had traded spots. I was pulling away pretty quick so I decided to shut it down and let him go.

One more truck driver fooled by the low-pro and debadging I guess.

Cliff notes: Me (Stage 2) vs. Ram 1500 Hemi (Exhaust), he got 1.5 car jump, I hesitated, but reeled him in from 60 on a third gear pull and had 1.5 cars on him by the top of third.

Same issues here with trucks and cars. Well... kind of. Anyway some people in trucks will take on just about anything. lol

Always fun to show 'em 8cyl doesn't automatically make it fast.

Actually Stage 2 is a dang-near 15 sec car up here where I live (then again, everything's slower up here)

Wasn't really bragging, point was more that they're all over out here and some of them think they're **** quick.

But yes, I did beat him, and I did it from lower in third than I'd have liked. My car ain't really fast, but neither was his.

^^^ agreed

Not a terribly hard kill, but kinda fun since the hemi clan up here's so large.

I'd much rather run a Charger R/T, which under the same circumstances probably would have kept that 1.5 car lead.

Hey... just be glad it wasn't an SRT Those SRT Rams are FAST from a roll, pretty slow from a dig though since they weigh like 6klbs.

Definitely wasn't an SRT, if it were I think I'd be more inclined to just sit back and watch it rip. Last time I was behind an SRT-10 it flew down the highway onramp like a raped ape. That's the difference between 340 and 500 crank though I guess

The truck in question had "HEMI" on the side and some loud-ass pipes (and one cocky SOB for a driver), but other than that it appeared all stock.
