Me Vs. SRT-4

So i raced my first SRT-4 last night. It was an 05, he claimed that it was stock with a BOV but at first when i asked him if he was staged he said stg 2. so i dont know if he is stock or Stg 2.

Anyway, I have an 07 SS/SC with Stg II, 2.9, AEM CAI, and GMPP Cat Back.

So first race was a 40mph roll, he left a lil early on three, but he pulled about 1/2 car then i would get right next to him then he would pull 3/4 car and i would gain a bit more. In the end at aprox 120mph he had me by a 1/2 car.

Next race dig, we both left on time and i instantly pulled 3 cars on him and held it till 75mph.

I got him to follow me to come chat and we did thats when he claimed he was stock with BOV (MOPAR)

I had me and another person in my car he had 3 in his.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Was he Stock with BOV, was he stage 2?

was it an accurate race?

srt-4s are quick cars no doubt. but i hate how no matter what car they pull up next to they beleive theyre faster. and if they are proved other wise then theres something wrong or any other cop out that one would have.

oh and i forgot to mention he said he was hitting under 20 psi like 17-19? i dont know what they push stock but that seems high to me...

iam happy about the kill from dig i destroyed him, but the roll race iam unhappy about cause he had another person in it, alltho i do have about 100lbs of system in the back of mine. but iam still not satisfied unless i know that he indeed was stg 2.

Damn...

Stage 2 or something custom. Your car is out of the range of a stock SRT-4 with a BOV.

Yeah I know this isnt the same but with my mods, I raced a stock 03 srt-4 and killed by like 3 lengths, so he must be stage 2

only major differences between 03's and 05's is that the 05's come with limited slip, bigger injectors and a "minor" adjustment to the tune to compensate for the larger injectors (5-8hp difference between the 2). The year no longer matters if it has stage2. Weather its a 03, 04, or 05 the stage2 upgrades for each year is all the same (larger injectors, wastegate, map/tip sensors, and new pcm/tune). Question is weather he had just the basic stage 2 or stage 2 w/ toys. Chances are he had just the basic stage 2 kit as its most common.

S1 might spike and hit 16 psi but not stock. Stock boost on an SRT-4 will vary by a few psi depending on temperature. colder temperature = less boost, hotter temp = more boost. Max boost on stock is no more than 14 psi. Most see between 12-14. During the winter time you could see between 10-13 psi.

OP: If he was running 17-19 psi then he has an aftermarket wga. That can be run without Stage 2. People do it every day.

If he didn't mention he was running an aftermarket wga then he is not telling you all his mods. Unfortunately that is sad that he didn't. Hopefully he will own up and tell you next time exactly what he has done to the car.

Unfortunately there are probably very few stock cars out there and probably just as many non-stock Stage kitted cars out there too. Most stage kittted cars have many other mods done too. Hell you can run into a Stage 1 car with a 50 trim with 450 whp and 400+ tq. Or you can run into a Stage 1 car with just Stage 1, wga, TBE and only be pumping out 260 whp. Same can be applied with all the Stage kits. Hell I am planning on running a modified MOPAR Stage 3 turbo with my MOPAR Stage 2 no toys PCM setup. High 300 whp is the aim at the moment.

Good races good kills,

from an SRT-4 owner

Like scott said, it all depends. And he's dead on with the stock boost numbers. I WAS stock up until about two weeks ago...now I've got a bunch of goodies under the hood and in the cabin.

Either way, some nice kills. I have a lot of respect for the Ecotecs...almost got one a few years back. I'm excited to see what the new T/C Cobalts will do to the scene; it can only be good things.

I am not here to start fights. This is your guys forums. I respect that. I may be biased towards my car, but at the same time I am not going to lie about a possible out come from a race or the actual out come of a race. I you win you win, if you lose you lose, come back with more later. No big deal. You will never be the biggest fish in the pond.

Besides, I like the cobalt, looking forward to seeing what the TC version can do. I am hoping that Chevy under rated it again and you will see a better starting whp than what is claimed currently.
