so i ran into a couple good races this week.

first i was at a light on a service road and there was a pretty sweet crx next to me with an older guy drivin it. it wasnt all riced out. i could tell by his gauges that he was boosted. i didnt really pay THAT much attention to him until the light turned green. all of the sudden he launches hard. then i notice that the car on the far side was a RX8 and they were both racing. once i saw this i smashed the gas down to see what would happen. they both had about 4 cars on me, with the crx in the lead. suddenly i start fetching them BAD! they still dont know that im racing with them until i cruise right by them both. the look on the crx drivers face was priceless!

the better race was a soltice GXP. im merging onto the highway and i see him flying up pretty fast behind me. he gets along side, gives me a grin and then punches it. i downshift to third at about 80mph and hes already 2 cars ahead. i stay on to see what happens. well, things didnt change much. 80, 90, 100, 110... yes im still 2 cars behind. 110, 120, 130... yup, you guessed it, still 2 cars behind. we were absolutely dead even. i mean, i gained inches and then he took them back, but that was about it. these gxp's are fast little things. i assume since they are so light that they have a slight advantage. 260hp helps too. i can only assume he was stock since i didnt talk to him.

 

I can kinda see the RX-8 thing happening ,but a turbo CRX? Being down 4 cars and catching up to either isn't really a simple task. Turbo CRX's can be sickly fast considering how little they weigh.

 

you never know, he coulda been tuned poorly or running low boost, anything can happen on the streets

lol you can take a crx and throw a greddy turbo on it and not tune it and the car is still crap....lol it all depends on how much work the person put into it.

 

judging by how nice it looked, i think we can assume that he didnt swap the motor or anything. i mean this thing looked REALLY clean. prolly spent most of his money on the looks and just smacked a turbo on the stock motor and did a quick tune.

put it this way, he wasnt raping the RX8 by any means. they were actually kinda close. i know for a fact he was turbo though since i could hear the BOV loud and clear.

you can KINDA see the RX8 thing happening? im not trying to be a jerk to you at all, but come on. those things are dogs and im not stock by any means. a stock ss takes those out, so a modded one would just tear it apart.

Evan's had a somewhat factory freak so I'm going to probably find these stories believeable.

The horsepower rating of the GXP while is a good sounding number for a small 2 seater, you have to realize that the Turbo gives it a higher HP number, but still suffers from some of the lag that's inherent from a Turbo. The Supercharged 4 makes for a better average across the power band. Its like taking the average HP across the entire rev range for both cars. One has a higher peak but also a lower low in the rev range, the Supercharged one has a lower peak, but also a higher low HP number because it doesn't have to wait for the power to come on as much as the Turbo. I wonder how similar the numbers would be in a Solstice GXP with a supercharger against one with a Turbo.

I wasn't trying to sound like a jerk. 4 cars is a pretty considerable lead. But I didn't really look over your modifications, so I definitely could be wrong.

Just about all turbo CRX's I've seen were VERY fast. So, this one could have been one of the slower ones. On the other hand, good kills.

 

i know you werent, and im with you on the crx thing. when i used to go to the street races in high school the turbo crx's and turbo civic hatches killed EVERYTHING. a lot took out z06's so naturally i expected more from this one, but he was probably in the early stages of an engine build.

 

exactly, people call bs. on me when ive done the same, but if not tuned right, you'll can own them.
