mustang backs down from the cobalt

so.. this isn't really a racing story.. why.. cause he backed down. why do so many people.. not just mustang drivers.. fear the cobalt. i mean.. the car is quick for what it is.. i'm doing 107mph traps.. but... if you've got a fast mustang.. race me real quick.. beat me badly.. and i'll say good race and go home. it just makes me think his car was just loud and not fast at all.

i don't get it.. i can understand if you've got a stupid fast car and some little ford tempo comes up on you wanting to race, but a race is a race right? it wasn't for money just fun.. what happened to just fun?

ok thats my rant. feel free to make jokes such as slowbalts suck and mustangs rule and stuff like that.

Lots of Stangs around here are just loud. Most of them only run high 13s around here so I have no problem eating them. A few real nice ones roll that I would race but why would they waste there gas lol. I had a 2000 GT or so act all badass and get on it when I was pulling out of Napa. I quickly pulled out, was a two lane. Got into the passing and all he heard was my whine. He quickly let off and would not even look at me. We got a red light and I nodded at him. He quikly turned right on red without his turn single and would not attempt to race me lol.

Most Mustangs are just loud but there are a few of us that just don't race on the street or as in my case unless I think its going to be a good run I wont wast my gas or risk hurting my self or some one else. Now if you talk **** or wont stop bothering me going down the road, Ill lay into it and make you feel real stupid.

Tonight a guy in a SRT8 Jeep was talking **** about how his jeep would beat me, me and my friend are like no it wont even come close. He kept saying it would because its the worlds fastest production SUV and that all I would do is spin and with his AWD hed beat me. This went on for about 10mins and I was like dude lets put $100 on line and well see whos the fastest then he looked at me and was like you just wont win and walked away. He never said another word to me that night and didn't even come back to where we were sitting, now if he really thought he could beat me and win $100 he would of jumped all over that. I did do a nice burnout as I left the parking lot just to let him know my cars no joke.

Sometimes I'll back down because it just ain't worth it.
I drive some rather powerful cars, and I don't race every little thing that revs on me...

Sometimes I get a funny feeling about something bad about to happen...
I will say, that sometimes to backdown, shows much maturity...

+1 Alot more **** can happen racing a 500-600whp+ car than racing 200-300whp car. Most people don't ralize its take alot of control and knowing what the car can/will do when racing on the street or even the strip for that matter. Its not like you just put the gas to the floor and it takes off, with 500-600whp the car will take off but its usally sideways. LOL

alot of people fear the cobalt (particulary the supercharged one) because they dont know much about it, and when people dont know about something it scares them

like when people are cruisin down the street and you pass them up and after they see and hear, cold air growl ftw, they all of a sudden slow down and obey traffic laws lol

people probably just dont wanna get into racing on the streets, its not a safe thing to do anyway

but then again there was a g35 that revved his engine at me and wanted to race me, so just for *****, ran with him, too bad it was really hot and my engine was bogggggggggggggggggin, but even if it were cold, he'd of killed me, pulled on me hard hard hard

probably a little ego booster for him

I have to agree that alot of the newer Mustang drivers (2005+) carry a bit of a ego. There's a guy across the street from me who has a 2006+ Mustang GT.

Whenever he see's me, he revs his engine (so I can hear how loud his exhaust is). I'll admit that his exhaust is louder because the stock exhaust on a SVT Cobra sucks.

His exhaust sounds better and is louder, but his car isn't faster

Next summer, C6's will see my tailights..........

Not one to ever brag, (because I've taken losses as well) but after I bolt on a Whipple, K&N, Borla Stingers, X-pipe, and Cat back its gonna be over for most cars I come across.

Its sounds like you have a pretty much bone stock car, I hope your used to driving fast cars because you will be going from a mid 12 car to a low 11 car (depending on boost and driver). Also Stingers are a catback and you might want to add some stikey tires to your list because you will still be getting your ass handed to you because you'll be spining. LOL Trust me I know that from experience.

Also becareful of boost and try to keep the power in the 550-600rwhp area if you want to keep your stock engine and no WOT runs in 5th or 6th.

Yup, its pretty much stock thus far. I wasn't going to switch out my Eaton for a Whipple but since my local "Ford" dealership will do the swap for me, and the engine warranty will still be honored, I'm going for it.

Becareful with them keeping the warranty thats not true, they CAN honor it but they dont have to and they will be the only Ford dealership that will. If you would take it to any other Ford dealership they will most likely void you warranty and at the very worst will charge you for any work they performed.

Ford dosent sell a Whipple that will keep the warranty just to let you know. Plus I wouldn't trust very many Ford mechanics to work on my car either, they're usualy not the best at least around here.

Also is this an SVT dealer thats telling you?

Yes it is, its actually the FRPP Whipple Supercharger. Its a direct replacement for the Eaton. See below:

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tkeyfield=8554

Don't get me wrong there was some "well..................." from the tech that I spoke with. I think I will be ok. I don't drive my car hard anyway.

With some supporting mods, I should be a little over 500RWHP. If I get sticky tires, I'll need to worry about the rear.

I know they make one, what Im saying is it WILL void your warrenty.

M-6066-CT46HP* Black Wrinkle
M-6066-CT46PHP* Polished

Designed for use with most aftermarket single blade oval bore throttle bodies
- For applications using factory twin bore throttle body, use M-6066-CT46

Kit includes supercharger, supercharger inlet, manifold adapter plate and hardware kit

Requires PCM, fuel pump and MAF meter upgrades

Installation of this kit will void your new vehicle engine warranty
NOTE: Superchargers are built to order. Please allow 7 days for assembly.
They are saying they will keep you warrenty not Ford, what Im saying is they CAN void it if they want, unless you get it in writing. Also if you would for any reason take it to another Ford Dealership they can put it in the Computer that voids your warrenty no matter where you go.

Just becareful they can **** you over, I've seen it done before.
