Maybe a near-stock gt mustang? old m3?

Itchin' for a real race, man...something close, bumper to bumper
Why would an sti or evo not race you? They woul kill you with your car stock. 205 horsepower against 300. I think they just didnt want to waste their time..........OOPS, I just saw that you werent stock. My bad!

not as big of a difference as you think. from what ive seen a stage 2 cobalt ss sc with intake and catback is about par with a stock evo x depending how fast you go because the evo has better top end. if he were to race from 40-100 he might get a stock evo or stock sti.

when i just got my x i race my friends stage 1 with intake srt-4, and i got him by 2 cars from 40-120.

see, this is why i want to race one tho.

I don't think the race would be even. but I would love to be proven wrong. plus, win or lose, I just love to race.

I gotta say, I've been reading a lot about wheel hop and torque steer with cobalts, but I'm not feeling it. I've mashed the gas and let go of the wheel...staight as an arrow......ok. a slightly curved arrow, but an arrow darn it!!

I can't force the thing to wheel-hop.

I really like this car.

but you're here for a race story, right?

2006 solstice turbo. lightly modded. the first race was fairly even, with me pulling ever so slightly through first and second.

second race, dead ***** even. I can't complain. He said he had a few mods with more on the way. some hahn stuff, don't remember what. cool guy tho.

My 2.4 has torque steer like crazy. When I downshift to pass on a two lane and have it at high rpm's, I have to make sure to hold the wheel very good. Taking of it wants to pull bad too. Maybe you have a torque dampener.

Though it would be fun to see how I fare against a near-stock ls1 or a near-stock stang. maybe even an older m3. hehe. we'll see.
You have a lot to learn.

Stage 1 on 04-05 Srt's is just a slightly tuned PCM. Like you said 10whp. I would say he raced a stock one. IDK. I would say STG 2 SC/Stock TC/Stock SRT are all in the drivers race area.

maybe when they were new this was the case, but but its 2011. And from what ive seen they lose more over the years than the ss/sc, ive witnessed a stage 2 cobalt ss with intake pull on stock srt-4 with ease, mainly because of the **** stock shifter and turbo lag compared to a stage 2 ss/sc that has instant power. Passing 120 mph the srt-4 will start to creep back on a stage 2 ss/sc. A stock ss/tc will pull on a stock srt-4.

Like you said, drivers race. but with the advantage to the stage 2 ss/sc and cobalt ss/tc

03-05 vs 05-07 not too big of a diff. A stock turbo Srt is tiny there shouldn't be any lag. Can't generalize by a few worn cars you've seen. Would I have anything to say of a few beat to death Evo 8's I've seen, no I know what they are capable of. Though really slow a well running/driven Srt is in the 13's @ 102-103.You know then things changes when the mods come, etc. <- point that there all in the drivers race range.

Its because you have aftermarket trans mounts.

the lag isnt much, but it is more than the ss/sc. Your right i shouldnt generalize, and 1-2 years isnt a huge gap but in my area anyways the srt4 tend to be beaten to death, while the ss/sc ive seen have far less miles. My cobalt was an exception tho, 70k HARD miles in 2 years of owning it, before returning it even a stock civic si was pulling away with me the engine was so abused.

I dont know anyone who owns an evo and doesnt beat the sh*t out of it like a slave on a daily basis, other than mine of course

On a baby AGP turbo (44lbs-min) now on 28psi. Should be 430-440whp 460+ ft-lbs. Full exhaust, bolt-on's, fuel system, clutch/flywheel, etc.
If your really interested here are a few track vids. Front page speedo shot was on just 24psi 110 octane still on a 93 timing map. Around 400whp. The rest was on just 22psi/93 octane.

Just a couple I had on my photobucket.

it feels slow as hell, the cobalt tried to kill me. the srt is good cause of less lag but it lacks the top end of the cobalt. i plan on 50 trimmin it when i get back from the desert tho.

op, you got any vids?

Yeah, the stock turbo sucks. It will get you to 300whp but the SRT is more about it's turbo swapped setups, high stock internal numbers and a decent aftermarket. haha.

No. My camera was down because I lost the charger and then I lost the memory card....pain. anyway. Once I get off my lazy butt and learn how to upload videos, I'll try a few. prob. be in the next week range or so.

Thread jacker! haha, dude, I'm totally screwing with you.

This is why I'm not modding my car all to hell. There is ALWAYS going to be someone faster than you. Even if I get my cobalt to 500 hp, there's an srt4, or a dsm, or a camaro with 550 who'll walk me, and I guarantee you I'd meet him the moment I roll my car off the dyno.

I'm doing a 2.8 pulley. Hopefully with my setup it'll be good for 240-245whp.

Next year maybe I'll buy a Corvette (C5). Slap a turbo on it...
