My SS/SC vs. My old mustang (long-ish)
My SS/SC vs. My old mustang (long-ish)
Being the owner of two aging stangs, two weeks ago I decided to go in and see about getting a monte carlo as a newer daily driver. The salesman was a good friend of mine and pointed me towards the SS/SC, and said I'd love driving it. He's raced against my 12 sec '94 GT in the past, and knew what I was used to. By the end of the test drive I was in love with the SS/SC (the past two weeks are the longest my '94 has sat in the garage during the summer, when it's been working anyway
). So I signed the deal and traded my 2002 Mustang GT for the cobalt.
Driving around today looking for a store to order the new autometer gauge pods, I pull into the parking lot of a stereo store, and what do I see sitting there but my old sonic blue 2002 GT (it had the dealer inserts in the plates). I walk in and some guy starts talking crap about the cobalt and how he had driven one and they were worthless. I asked if he wanted to race, and we went and raced three times (my car is still completely stock).
First race, standing start, he whooped me outta the hole (as he should have), had about a car on me when I shifted to 2nd. By the end of second I was a nose ahead, end of third about a car ahead, and about 2 cars at 110. He wanted to race from a roll next, so we started at 40, he took off on my 2nd honk, and I still pulled ahead by the time I was halfway through 3rd, beat him even worse. I haven't pulled that bad even on stock new edge GT's, so I figured he just must suck at driving. Next stoplight he said he had his TC on, and wanted to race with it off. Okay
. Ended up beating him worse than the first race, tho I think he missed 3rd.
Seems like a lot of other mustang guys have switched over to balts, and this is more proof of why. Stock for stock, you can't get much better value than an ss/sc.

that's exactly what i say...
everyone complains that "the glove box squeaks" or "the passenger window is slow".. but for a car that maxes out at 25 thousand.. i think it's an excellent value.
