i raced a ws6.(not sure of the year, it was 98-02) we did four races on an old state highway. we did one dig and 3 rolls. 2 of the rolls i beat him and then he raped me on the dig. this was before i was tuned.

You would probably need to perform your best in order to beat him. If he can launch well, I dont see the SS/SC being able to reel him in, however I did look on dragtimes.com and seeing that the 1996-97 model year is running a mid 13's with drag radials and an exhaust, 8.8's in the 1/8th.. I also found a cobalt ss/sc with about the same amount of h.p your probably putting down, running a 13.8 1/4, 8.9xx 1/8th mile.

Considering you did not list any mods, assuming he is stock, it is a driver's race! He would most likely need a bad launch for you to take him.

ya sorry i was in a hurry and didn't list his mods...his is a 97 with stock tune he said, i couldn't get all the mods but he did have exhaust which i think was magnaflow and i think intake. But i've never dragged legally and the only dig i've done was against an rx8 when i was stock and that was stupid because i spun until 2nd gear and gave him a head start and still whooped him so i've never had a legit one. he said from a dig only so i was like alright 2 out of 3 then.

If your not good at launching i wouldn't put money on it. Do it for fun the 1/8th is hard to catch someone unless you have a lot of power and you don't..

Hey OP..why dont you practice some in your free time. Hold at 2k, let out briskly but not too quick as you dont want to bog, and pedal the **** out of first gear if your breaking loose. All comes down to throttle control for FWD to get a good launch. Give it a go and see if it helps.

go borrow some slicks and i think youll take him. ss/sc's are just in general bad for launch plus they are obv. fwd. if you have slicks i think youll take him.

You should be able to get him in the 1/8th mile if you don't blow your tires off. That cute little LT1 is going to struggle to cut a 2.0 60ft, if you can cut a 2.2 or better you'll take him easily.

You need to find out if it's an auto or a 6speed...... That will make alot of difference in those cars . My 6sp LT1 camaro ran 13.60's consistently with a 13.58 best with a catback , intake and cat delete . My car was a stripper thou ...roll up windows , cloth , no tops , cassette lol . Most other lightly modded LT1's I saw around here had trouble breaking into the 13's

cocky cobalt owners lol

As for the op, from a dig he will probably get you, maybe not, the lt1s are pretty damn slow. Like others have said it comes down to the 60 foot.
