personal list
No one did as far as I know, so lets start
-SRT Neons will me a strong competitor. Stock it will beat the SS. So its going to be interesting to see what tuning does.
-Redlines, well they are the same car. Not really competition.
-You guys can continue...

well purely based on performance not about $$$ this is my list all based on stock form
standard WRX, not sti
honda s2000
possibly 350z
bmw 3 series
lt1 powered f-bodies
all mustangs from 85-02 gt
mustang cobra to 98
rsx type S
Integra Type R
audi tt quattro
infinity g35
vw new R32
2nd gen dsm eclipse turbo
all vehicle performance numbers are roughly equal, all in the 14 second range as far as 1/4, but on slolom it will differ. so it will all be a close race, regardless of price, this is if the cobalt ss gets the lsd package, and i'm sure it can achieve faster than 14.5 by the trap speeds its achieving.
now standard 2.2 look at toyota carolla, honda civic ex, toyota celica gt
2.4 possibly integra gsr, honda preludes, lexus is300, civic si toyota celica gts, mitsu eclipse gts (v6)

should really specify that this list is stock vs stock. With that in mind, the closest I think of is the SRT-4, which is slightly quicker and perhaps the new Eclipse V6. The 05 Type S is slightly slower as is the GTI.
All in all, if you're talking street or strip, many would be a driver's race as we've all seen guys post 15 seconds in an SS and mid 14's with a Type S, both not the standard.
