Poor eclipse!

Well my friend go his GST finally fixed and we felt like racing….. hehe more like me going fast with him trying to catch up. Well 5 starts one at 10, one at 20, and 3 at a full stop and I destroyed him at every gear. His car is moded though, Wastegate, pulleys, intake, full exhaust system, larger downpipe, upgraded blow off valve, performance clutch, dropped like a ****** so it handles to, but any sexy as SS will take it

I belive you! Just because he has mods doesn't mean that they actually helped his car. Maybe it's not tuned perfectly. Also, eclipses break down all the damn time; a 98 would probably be on its last legs if it's been driven hard all its life.

Not true at all. You have no idea how strong those 4g63's are (I own a '95 and I know).
A '98 would be far from being on its last legs unles someone really abused it and didn't maintain it.

He should learn how to launch. He should have the turbo already spooling at the line and slip the clutch until it's go time.

I have AWD so launching isn't a problem for me

He tired but his car isnt all wheel so it spun like crazy, i was having an even harder time launching with my car so it kinda made up for his lack of low end power(before turbo kicks in) i cant figure out the best way to launch it i get alot of wheel spin nd hopping!

Yeah, I get plenty of wheel hop and spinning when I try to launch. I've had my best luck slipping at 1800rpm. It seems when you drop at over 2k with the PZero tires you get lots of hop and spinning. I think the tires are just too hard for launching. You really need drag radials in this car if that's what you plan on using it for.

I kind figured out the launch today whil driving, i did it realy slow at firt to get the feel and i thinkg i got it. as u said around 1800 rpm but im not flooring it all the way im leaving a little bit of room till i get going (wich takes less thne a second) then i just drop it all the way and go seems to work but i have time myself and actualy record it to see the difference. i knwo its an odd way to launch but it worked

I have to say I beleive you too....because I accually sold my 95 Eagle Talon TSI for my SS.... and the my Talon was modded about the same as your friends, maybe a lil less... and the best time i could pull at the track was a 15.3.... depending on how bald his tires are, you'll beat him all the time cause those dsm's can't grab....also, my SS does feel like it pulls so much quicker than my old DSM.... Also... my brother's got a G-Meter, and me and my friends test our 0-60 test all the time, and in my dsm I got high 6's alot but, i've only did like 4 or 5 runs with my SS and i already got a 6.2.... so these cars are no joke.... Good Job man and keep havin fun...

I agree... and I believe it. Truth is, DSM's are nothing special until you up the boost. If this guy had upped the boost and had the mods to support it, it would be a different story, but as long as he's on stock boost, he's likely still a low 15/high 14-second car (possibly better w/ excellent driving).... nothing an SS couldn't compete with.

it does no good to argue with the people that don't own these cars. you could have it on tape and then they will find another reason to bash it.. like the other driver was un-experienced, or it was more humid on the other side of the street, or the gravatational pull was better on your side of the street.. all kinds of dumb excuses that people without knowledge will make

Some people are reasonable and logical, and some are not... and there are some of both on every forum. Go ahead and post a vid for our enjoyment, but the people who are SURE than an I/E GST is an 11-second car aren't going to believe it no matter what you do.

Lol i cant post the vid, my friends car is nearly dead poor think i actually liked it), but its ok hes getting an SRT-4 (i convinced him hehe).

But its fun to watch fanboys overestimate and underestimate cars. (Although anyone who owns a car will be a fan of their car.)

Oh an someone posted how eclipses last long, sorry to tell you but they really don’t, (some do) but most tend to break down, its just a problem they have)

Ya,I know what you are saying. I've beat up 3 DSM's on the street as of late. 2 of which had several noticable mods. I also race one at the track, that one was fast. I beat him bad off the light, was ahead all the way to the end, until he passed me through the traps. It takes some time for those things to spool up.
