my friend is buying a 2002 mustang gt(stock). i have a basically stock ss/sc. my only modd if you would even consider it one is an airbox mod. and im just wondering if we race do i stand a chance. i killed an 05 altima SE-R the other nite by 3 cars. and there putting around the same hp and weight down.
It depends, from a dig he should beat you if he can drive but from a roll you should beat him. An CAI isn't going to do anything for that car, the biggest thing to worry about on a GT is gears. A set of 3.73s or 4.10s really wake those cars up.
Anything can happen, but if you're good at driving a manual, then you will probably win. It just doesnt seem from the way you're talking he will be in the "good" driver category.
yea i dont put him as a driver really although ive never seen him drive a manual so its anyones race. i just cant race him off the line. that race isnt worth snapping an axle or two.
one, you won't snap an axel stock, if you do, chevy's are pieces of junk, and two... you won't snap two axels.... seeing as your car is fwd...
Like your friend has already said, you wont snap an axle, especially with the power you're putting down. If you go from a 40 roll, you have the advantage and should win.
I'll put it to you this way man, if we race when i come out there, if your faster than me, or even keep up with me you'll be fine. I annihilated the new GT's, and they're quicker than the old ones.
tell him to get it this week and i'll run him to
no you wont snap an axel. I'm putting down way more power than you are, and i've launched my car many more times than you have, and i'm fine
you'll probably shred your clutch before you snap an axel

1. I've NEVER heard of a near stock Cobalt SC snapping an axle, You'd have to launch that thing hundreds, maybe thousands of times.
2. I have a friend with a stock 99 Mustang GT auto. I have a 2.4L auto w/ SRI, cat back, Shiftplus, and wingless (for what it's worth.) From a dig he pulls a fender-half a car depending on the flatness of the road. From a 40 roll I walk away from him all the way to about 110 and he starts pulling back.
3. Your S/C should keep within a car of him from a dig unless he can really drive or has mods you don't know about.
4. From a 40 roll he can kiss your tail lights good bye unless he has unknown mods.
5. Make sure you do this very safely with good roads, no traffic, and no possible interferences.

i agree dood... i was 100% stock and ran a 03 stang gt with cat-back and intake... he didnt spin off the line either... i won by half-car - 1 car... i just know he was losing ground as we progressed. and i took it up to 100 mph or so...
