Hi guys, I live in Tracy Ca, Close to SF. I have a SS S/C black full loaded. I also have a 93 RX-7. It seems that nobody even cares about the ss when it comes to racing. Im at red lights, and ricers,and srts just look at my SS. They smile and wave, thats it... Im afraid to rev. since i dont wanna look like an *******. But in my 7... everyone challanges me. Even civics... sadly no contest. So i feel that nobody fears the SS. Car experts like us love this car. But honestly im offended lol, by not getting taunted... any thoughts?

 

Same here.... I either get ricer fly-bys or just looks.... Kind of a bummer..

 

i had a kid in an f-body(ws-6) rev his engine at me at a stop light, i felt good haha

 

tonight i had this guy screaming his pontiac firebird i think it was, a newer one, at me, reving at me like 3 cars behind me, and racing past me, im like ummm, your exhuast just pierced my ear, and no i dont want to F*** with your car

 

Yea i've had a few ricers rev at me but thats when i was sittin at a light and the were going the other way past me. I have'nt had any stop light action either. cept my brother in his 03 GT. But that don't really count

 

Yea don't mess with TAs, stock i doubt we'd have much luck with them (unless the driver REALLY sucks) But i doubt you could find a stock one anyway.

 

Ok, so im glad its not just me. But inj other threads... other people gtet to brag about kills and stuff... its not fair... unless they are lying... which ouldnt surprise me...this is the internet

best way to get someone to race you is to insult their car

ie, some kid in a SVT focus pulls up, roll down you window and say, "hey, nice car, too bad its a ford"

this method is really good and can apply to all makes and models. it's good when you want to make some one race for money, since insulting their car angers them and clouds their judgement

i am actually like you when you are in your rx7, Sempher55. a lot of people want to see what my car can do, but i hold back when im on the streets unless its late at night. also, gas is pricey, and most cars just aren't worth the gas.

Ok, thanks for the tips, but now how do i do this without being an ass? I live in cali, which should be full of them lol. Other threads where peopel SAY that other drivers talk ****.. im not one for doing so, im just not that kind of person... to be rude, but i can tell u i had my friend drive my 7 while i was in the ss, and u would be surprised on the results...but back on topic, every other thread in this forum thats on racing starts off as how the other car was talking **** and revin... where are these asses... i guess i gotta move!!!!!!!!!

 

i don't think that's a smart way to start a race. Especially in states where most people carry hand guns. But anyways, most people don't start races with me either. I usually have to instigate. i rev on them, or just ride along side them until it annoys them and they punch it to pass me, then I punch it, and we're off. Most people still don't know what an SS is or what it can do.

 

Go to your local dragstrip, I'm sure you'll find plenty of people willing to race you. Or you can just accelerate past some one on the street and post about your "kill".

 

I get a lot of looks, 'shout outs', revs and quite a bit of tire chirping around my SS S/C.

My problem is it's very rare that I'm actually going the same way as someone who would possibly race, and even more rare that we catch a light with no traffic.

Here's a tip that has worked for me... If you want to look for a race - go to the track. If you want to street race, drive around slow and the race will come to you. Every single one of my street races have come to me when I really wasn't looking for one.

Sempher55, go over to Modesto. When I had the SRT-4, I have everyone and their grandpappy wanting to race me. It ranged from Civcs to Big Monster trucks. I saw it all. Go out to McHenry on Friday and Saturday around 11pm. All these damn people do is drive it back and forth, back and forth. Thank gawd my wife only drags me up there once a month. It's boring out there..

 

I have no problem getting runs at all, everyone seems to wanna take a shot at this car. Hell, I've had 2 in the last 2 nights. I've also never instigated any of them except the ones I've set with my buddies.

 

There's absolutely no problem getting people to race here... most of the time I don't even know until they peel off from the red light - oops time to play catch up! I get people all the time that pull up next to me and tell me they like my car. Hell today I had a middle aged man in a Pontiac Solstice say "rock on" to my SS. Talk about being awesome....

Seriously if I drive around with the cut-out closed, my car is quieter than stock (unless I get on it and the waste-gate opens up). I get ignored by everyone.

If I open up the cut-out, everybody and their brother seems to want to race me.
