stopped at wendys to get some food with some people... my friend kc's friend rolls up beside me as im ordering my food and starts trying to talk to me.... i get the food, we talk, he has an 06 sti that he just got and is just looking for something to run to see how his car is.... he has 1 passenger and i have 2... i assumed i would lose, but we did it anyways.... 3 times from 40.....

first time i honk it off and i win by maybe a car.... seemed odd... but we talk and he says he didnt downshift he just left it in 3rd and went for it because he isnt use to the 6speed...

2nd time he drops to 2nd and he dips, but my clutch slips.... win to him

3rd time we do it again and i got a slight jump, but he pulled it back and had me by a half car when he let off... he was still pulling though... never went over 110...

 

stock sti?? ouch, ive raped stock sti's and i mean i pull after third gear

Actually, the stock Sti's are pretty quick but around 40 is where their factory powerband hits a slouching point, which is where the Cobey makes her move with the right mods. Ask DTM2188 about the differences between his Cobey and the EVO 9 that he's rollin in now. Out the hole, the EVO's & STi's rule for sure, but around 40 stock they are a lil lack luster. Still a nice car with alot of potential

 

i dont see any delusions.... stock an sti isnt that impressive unless its going 60km/h and under..

 

look at the OP mods, hes not quite on the same level as some of you

hey stink, you honestly prolly havent even been around wrx,stis with gt35r's running 10's, i mean people are dropping 15 grand here in my town... We have in my town a tuning shop that builds sti's its called AR Fabrications maybe uve heard of them im not sure either way they have the fastest subbie that there is out of every other company...

My friend rolls around with a triptronic wrx, 2 steps it, and he runs 11's.... Most stis, when they are built right, run out of steam past 100 mph for the reason their built for the track not roll racing for one...An sti stock IS SLOW from a roll, but its def. another story when your talking about from a dig...A stage 2,exhaust,intake cobalt will beat a stock sti from a roll simple as that

ya ok bud.... dont get me wrong i love sti's but there not a godly car. neither is the balt. i bought my car for a reason and well its serving its purpose very well!

Let me get this straight you lost to a sti? How? I raced a 07 sti, 95 lt1 yesterday all at once. We went twice from a roll with the same results both times, me, the lt1 n the sti. It wasn't even close. And the kid told s he was giving the car all it had.

As it turns out I'm not saying the Cobalt won't serve your purpose well I'm saying it's not impressive until it's turbo swapped. I find it peculiar that people will say an STi isn't an impressive machine, but then with their clearly slower car, with clearly inferior handling, clearly inferior quality and resale will be upset when someone points out that their car isn't impressive either. I'm not saying an STi is a Godly car, it's certainly no McClaren but on the scale of Pinto to Porsche, it's higher than the Cobalt.

What's a Neon SRT-4, aren't those the NEONS that no matter how you talk it up, or upgrade are still NEONS???

I mean i see your point but your totally wrong...have you raced a stage 2 cobalt with no bolt ons just stage 2 and maybe an intake? Its clearly not a drivers race, i have two friends who own stis...another that will run 10's....He has one of the only wrx's with the transmision that he has that will hold upwards of 800 plus horsepower... For one i dont see how you can say a cobalt is such a **** in a box when you clearly paid 12 or so grand for an OK INTERIOR and a awd car that if you launch at the track numerous times **** will blow, and yes i understand thats normal... The reason that you have awd, a nicer interior, and the capabilitys to be faster is very true but its also true that you paid 12 grand more than most people here....
