Raced an LT1..

Ok first of all I usally don't street race but...

well I see an LT1 firbird and a Golf Gti 1.8t driving around and i get up next to em and were messin around... and I realize I went to school with the dude in the Firebird.. So I pull up next to him and ask if he wants to get on the interstate, cuz I wanna see how my car compares to his..

We went from a 40 roll.... the first race he left his car in Drive so I pulled about 2 cars right off the bat.. we ran up till about 85ish then slowed down.. he was 2 back the whole time..

The second race (again from a 40)... he put it down to second and we hit it and we were door to door up till about 105-110 and then he started to pull on me..

We pulled into a gas station and started talkin and he had a catback

But anyways I was very inpressed with the balt tonight

^^ True story, we all know that I am not one to street race either but I guess if there is any type of safe way to do it, we did. I was in bens car btw and I was really happy to see how well he hung with the LT1!

For his mods it was the right outcome. With a pulley he would have walked him up top.

As for the LT1 . Why does everyone think it's a dog up top? It's not an LS1 but it still has 285+ horsepower and a **** load of torque.

I've ridden in both automatic and M6 LT1 cars, and they pull hard pretty much through the entire rpm range. They're geared to do like 150 or something stock

Good race man! You have to watch those LT1s, some get abused an run like crap, while others get treated with respect an run some amazing times stock.

Most of the slow LT1's have the same issue. A **** opti-spark from wear or owners who don't care. If a water pump goes and even a drip gets in the opti it's gonna die.

I had 2 LT1's both were auto's (which makes no difference vs M6) and they may no have pulled like a LSX up top but they still pulled damn nice. A 100% stock LT1 will do 157mph and high 13 low 14 second 1/4 times. Alot of people will say they were on par with the 99-04 Mustang but I never lost to one of the 13 4.6's I raced. Not to mention the LT1 pulls harder after the 1/4.

thats true ****! A kid around here has a lt1 with a **** ton of bolt ons like headers, intake all that **** and is still slow as hell. he had water pump problems awhile back and i am asuming the opti-spark is ****. He beats the **** out of it as well.

I beat him pretty bad, it should of been a least very close.
