recent kills

so far ive had my gt28 swap ss/tc for 3 weeks and have raced two ppl...

first one was a 2008 honda s2000 cr which is my brothers on the highway but that wasnt even a race. did a few from 70-140ish and i was probably 3 busses on him by the end

second was a 2009 audi tt and he said all he had was exhaust and a tune but i think he was lying. we raced from around 30 and he jumped in front by about 3 cars and i came up on him and passed him by about 80. said my car sounded awesome even tho he was really pissed that i passed him. his car sounded like it had a small turbo but maybe it was just his intake (that he claimed he didnt have)

its so shitty having so much lag though, it doesnt get boost til like 4-4.5k but by then the car im racing pulls way up front. luckily i looked at the exhaust and it still has stock dp and catback. how much will getting a full 3" exhaust and catless dp help with the spool? im also getting a big intercooler soon so that should help some too.

my other question is what exactly can the lnf handle? right now im at about 390 whp and i feel like i beat on the car way too much and im afraid its going to blow. i heard the motor can take like 600 whp when tuned right but what power does the transmission hold? ive seen a few ppl blowing 3rd out but i cant remember what power they were at. hopefully some of you guys can answer my questions

thanks for any help

a downpipe and 3" exhaust would help tremendously. get that asap.

yea those will be my next mods after intercooler. do you know how much power until the case expands and 3rd is ruined?

no idea. just be careful i guess. if your that worried get the case cyrod and that should prevent any problems. also, treadstone is having a sale on intercoolers. for your power level you could still run the tr8 (good for 440whp or so), or get the tr10 (good for up to 660whp or something)

I would go with the catless dp first. You'll be amazed how much restriction the stock dp has. I really felt a difference with my dp I can only imagine how your car will react to one.

Wait wait wait... You turbo swapped before getting any supporting mods? That seems a little backwards dude. Are you tuned for the turbo? The tuning and timing has a large effect on how the turbo spools. Read any of the threads by BYT or Term 2 and you can begin to see the difference... Is it the BNR GT28? You are only getting a little added efficiency with the turbo only. If you get intake and dp and charge piping and an intercooler you will be blown away by the power.

its a gt2871r not bnr. also have modded airbox, synapse intake, synapse charge pipes and bov. i still have to take a look at the dp to see if its actually stock or an aftermarket one with a cat on it, ill take pictures this weekend probably but the exhaust is very loud which makes me think it must have a 3" dp. im also tuned by term2

ok well BNR makes a GT2871 twin scroll swap that spools very well. You may have a single scroll turbo. Go get a aftermarket manifold, Treadstone sells one, ZZP sells one as well both are very good. They are both made for a standard turbo. Putting a standard turbo on a twin scroll manifold with yield slower spool times.

yeah its the Synapse kit. I dont think its stock DP because the synapse kit needed an aftermarket DP with the kit.

Treadstone manifold is about as good as the synapse one. Synapse looks a lil better IMO, but performance wise they are the same.

That's not a big turbo it should spool before 4.5K. Lag from a roll? Brake boost..

yeah it should deff spool faster than 4.5k. lol! id say it could use some tuning work and a 3" turbo back exhaust.

gt2871r, 25 psi, meth, charge pipes, intake. 60-100 in 4.2 seconds. yeah i would say about 390 whp

im talking full boost tho by 4-4.5k, its at 20 psi by 3.8k but idk i guess its just my first turbo car and lag is annoying. car is a highway monster tho, i did one high speed run and pegged the speedo @ 160 in no time.

is it ok to nls with the swap or is that when the transmission goes bye bye?

Dude with that turbo and those mods you couls do better for power. what tune are you running? It could be a timing or fuel issue. You should be spooling a little faster than that I would think.

And hell yea I bet that think will peg the speedo at 160 with the quickness. It will do even better after you make sure the thing is dial in like ******* on Pamela Anderson... even she had to go in for retunes.

except added lag... too big on an FMIC will cause slight lag down low, just a head up. maybe tune for more low to mid range power if thats what you're looking for.

If you want your turbo to spool faster, consider using a small nitrous shot, like 25-50hp shot should be enough to spool that turbo to capacity by 3.5k You can configure the window switch to spray so it will only spray from 2k-3krpm range, just to spool the turbo, then itll shut off and let the turbo take over. Not sure what shop let you put that turbo on without a proper configuration.

sure i could get some pull vids this weekend. do you not believe me? im not going to take it up to over 160 again bcuz one it was 3 in the morn with no cars and two im trying not to beat on the motor with stock intercooler and three im not holding a camera while doing that haha

as for the tune, i just got it tuned a few weeks ago by term2 in person so i know its a good one. he said it didnt really like timing for having meth so idk what the problem is. it still spins in third depending on the road with nt05s so im satisifed haha

Not saying I don't believe you, 390whp is easy with a little money. Just wanted to see them if you have them. 60-100 and 60-120 are good pulls to determine power.
