second hand kill story

not my kill, but previous vehicle kill story.

my old truck full bolt ons and a cam. 422 to the tire.

07-11 z06

"was sitting next to a buddy of mine at a stop light last night after work. me in the truck, and him in his vette. i take off a bit quick, and he does the same. about 15 mph i floor it and he does the same. by the time i got to 60 mph he was at my back bumper. before you second guess this, there is a witness, and the owner of the z was racing"

i got that in a text message last night after i loaded my personal file into it over the weekend.

some of you know the truck. most do not. so im fully expected to see bs flags fly.

i raped an rx8 in the camry last week. YaY

Nope, I call BS right off the bat. There's no way a 4,700 lb truck putting down 422 hp beat a 3,300 lb Z06 putting down 440 hp stock. I'm sure that truck had to shift once, if not twice, by the time it hit 60. I also do not believe that truck could pull off a 0-60 time of less than 3.7 seconds.

Lol, truck has 4.10 gears right?

For a bit I'd give the truck a lead, but you know it would be passed by 100 no matter what the start.

what'd your truck do at the track like a 12.2? whats a stock z do with a good drive like 11.8 to 12.0? idk why people call bs.

oh wait.... it's a truck.. and people are stuck in their ways. don't understand gearing. i'm sure if they took it up higher to 100 or 120 the vette would pass him. but hey to 60 with that truck i wouldn't doubt it.

400hp ls3 vette = 350whp vs 422 whp plus trucks gears and weight and most likely auto give it the dig advantage.

Vette probley rolled you at 70mph tho.

above 70 the vette would have taken off. they didn't go that high though.

I know you got this story second hand , I'm just saying that I don't believe it. Yeah gearing, I get it. I think what some people don't get is that whole deal of F=m*a. That truck is carrying a lot more mass while putting down only the same amount of power to the wheels. Idk, maybe the truck got a slight jump on the vette, and when you're doing almost 20 already, 60 comes up pretty quick so the vette wouldn't gain it back by then. I'm just saying, a truck doing 0-60 in <3.7 seconds is very hard to believe.

have you ever tried to launch a 6spd vette. base/gs/zo6/zr1 from a dig on factory tires on the street?

no?

on a regular basis when i owned the truck i was door to door with awd cars out of the hole.

keep trying to down play it.

please go back and read my replies. it will help ease your little mind.

You people are ignoring how fast these trucks are with the gearing they have.

My dad's '03 with a 4.8L on a little 100 shot moves damn well for stoplight racing. No it's not fast and it will get outrun up top all day long by most performance cars, but from a low rolling 1st gear punch it reacts hard and moves very well for a 4400lb vehicle. Bryan's truck is a much more powerful starting point, and has a much better transmission with a lot more aggressive gearing in 1st and 2nd compared to the 4L60's in the earlier trucks.

I think a lot of you should try to ride in a 420whp truck, it would blow your mind.

Calm down there Mr. Badass. We get it, nothing could ever touch your old truck. "ZOMG, I SMOKE VETTES ALL DAY IN MY TRUCK YO!!!". Sure, I believe you when you say you smoked awd cars out of the hole... if they were stock audis. I would even believe you if you said you smoked stock sti's and evo's, because you have a better weight/hp ratio and the same 4x4 capabilities.

whats more fun is the modded lnf's it pulled from a 40 punch.

i never raced a c6/c5 in my truck.

my old truck wasn't 4wd.

Im surprised by how much go it has compared to my stage 1 TC..I think you seen it once up at Powell's back in 2011.
I had to get it home and it was about 0 degrees celcius out.....cold as hell and so were the tires...punched it at 70 km/h about 50 mph or so and it started fishtailing.....I'm still new to this car and its still too crappy out to go and learn.....
