So I lost to a Civic....

Went street racing last night and a civic boosted Gsr ek (B18c1) 299hp @ 231 tq wanted to race me. I believe he had a 16g turbo. I have an 08 ss tc with an intake and downpipe HP tuned at 23 psi. I knew I was going to lose, but it's whatever. Damn civic pulls nasty man. Did better than I thought I would tho. Raced a 2004 stage 2 wrx and beat him pretty bad. I also raced a H2b civic coupe on 100 shot N02 i believe and beat him to. Said he was having bottle issues or whatever. Got like 3 cars on him. Fun night, same boosted civic raced a c6 and barely beat him and also raced a 2010 camero SS @ 440hp and beat him by a car. I was very impressed with the civic, great car. I need bigger turbo!!! At least E85 lol need better race car haha. Ill post up the video on here once the civic driver post it on youtube. Don't make me feel to bad tho ;(

So a 229 hp civic beat a 440 hp camaro? In what parallel universe did this race take place in?

A lot of things play into a race, not just raw power.

Boosted Hondas are popular around where I live, some make some really good numbers too.

Don't worry OP, this is how Mustang owners feel when they lose to civics, cobalts, subies, etc.

I don't feel to bad, I mean it sucks but it's whatever. I respect the civic tho, you never know what to expect from them. They could be a complete peice of crap or you might find a complete awesome monster lol. Sad thing is the dude was talking crap a little after, I don't really care tho you aren't hurting my feeling by beating me haha. If that is the case let me go bigger turbo or e85 and then we can go at it again lol

I went down to the local track last night, and there were some fast civics, but like many said, its still a Honda, that sooner than later will break ( sure enough one did, think he lost his tranny ) haha

Yeah boosted civics can be such a sleeper. A guy I know dyno'd his turbo civic at 255whp and he ran a 12.2@116 at the track.

I'm currently working on putting a DOHC ZC into my brothers hatch with a manual SI transmission. We are going to be using the T28 off an RB26DETT to try an reach 250 WHP if we can. I know that we can but we still want some reliability.

I get why the Civic owner acted like a child. The Civic is probably the most disrespected car because of the poor representation they get most of the time. I remember when I had my D15B7 turbo'd with a 14B. Untuned I was able to pull quite a few cars at 10-12 PSI. I was much younger at the time and wouldn't leave my car untuned like I did with that one.

I would love to get the RTSi AWD system out of the Japanese Civic and plant that into a hatch with that ZC and build it with a monster turbo. That'd be awesome.

That is so funny because after a couple of races, his check engine light when on and his car was turning off on him. He could do about two runs, and then have to turn it off and let it cool down and then all over again lol.

Don't know much about civics but if I ever had the money to build one, I would probably get a s2000. They are so bad ass boosted. My overall goal once I graduate from school is build a rx7 with and lsx engine swap turbo. That or either buying an evo. Trying to build the cobalt but I am dirt cheap right now do to school. Tuition sucks. Justin at LPF built an LNF at 600hp and wants 4k for it plus my engine. He also is doing all the labor. Just wish I had the money. Engine literally has everything from zzp parts.

I agree with the S2000. I used to think they were overrated but they are built really well from the factory. I'm not huge on the LSx swap into an Rx-7, there is a local doing that but I personally don't care too much for it. In the drag racing world fast is fast though. Don't build a high horsepower front wheel drive, unless that's your dream. Lol

The only thing is with over 300whp most Honda's don't have more than 200wtq.

Having to rev out a motor like that too make power is ridiculous.

Local car. Look at those numbers.

they are piles of **** because people buy rx7 or rx8 only because "oh it's a cool looking car." they aren't aware that rotary engines take special care. You treat it like complete opposite of a regular car. rev that **** high often or else the engine won't last.

I hate civics with a burning passion.

Not ridiculous. FUN. Me and the ex had a tuned NA 98 Integra Type R and I pushed that ****** to 9,000 rpm on a daily basis. The sound was incredible and it would get mad torque steer when it hit VTEC.

I still have a fully built 97 coupe I've had since I was 21. D16Y8 SOHC. Wiseco 8.8:1, eagle h beam, Ferrea valves, Comp turbo cam .499 lift, and port/polished head with valve job. I have a complete Go Autoworks turbo kit partially installed. Turbonetics T3/T4B 57 trim .63 a/r turbo is good to 400hp. I will be maxing it out because I don't care if it blows up I've had it for so long.

It will definitely be faster than any bolted and tuned K04 Cobalt. With a LSD and Neptune RTP engine management, it will break a lot of hearts. I had a 15g turbo at 10 psi on stock internals a long time ago too and it was fun then.

/end ramble

Point: A properly built and tuned turbo Honda should never be underestimated.
