SS/SC vs. 5.0 Stang

well i stopped at on the tollway to pay a toll when a 5.0 stang pulls up next to me to pay his as well. i could hear his exhaust(pretty nice) and he had drag radials on it, other than that im not sure... anyway i took off from the toll stop and he followed close behind. i decided to punch it just to see what he would do and sure enough he stayed right on me, i only punched it from 50mph to 80mph though. he stayed behind me until i exited. i watched him in the rearview come all the way across the highway so that he could follow me to my exit. he paid the exit toll with me and took off ahead of me. it was clear at this point that he exited just to race me.
so we both turn right and he cruises at about 30mph to wait for me. the road just happens to be totally clear of cars. im in 2nd gear and at his door when he punches it. luckily i was ready for it so i punched it too, but of course 30mph is shitty for our cars. so, i quickly push the clutch in, set my RPMs where i want them and then drop the clutch, lauching myself forward. at this point there is half a cars distance between us. i barely crept on him while i was in 2nd gear, but once i shift to 3rd i start to reel him in slowly. after that i go to 4th, and by the time we let off at about 110mph im a bumber ahead of him. it was definitely an awesome race. he looked to be about 45 years old so it surprised me when he wanted to race. anyway, sorry for the long story, just wanted to put a lot of details.

it occurs to me that if he had drag radials then he logically would have wanted to race you straight up... seems kinda odd that did it from a roll.

either way, sounds like it was a nice fun time.

Well, considering how you're average Fox with DR's gets out of the hole, it probably wouldn't have been much of a race considering it took til 110mph to put a bumper on him from a 40 roll.

Not bashing by any means, just saying this made for a much better race. Nice run.

yeah there wasnt a chance to stop. all the lights were green and my turn came up about 1/2 a mile after we let off. i really wanted to see how it would have been from a stop with those DR's he had. proabably waaaay different. definitely a nice 5.0 he had!

that's kinda my point. those cars can be demons if set up right (lucky for us 99% of them are redneck shitboxes)

personally, i liked that it was friendly, i don't get into that "i hate you, lets race" crap... ends up being dangerous... best runs i've ever had were with cars i knew i couldn't beat
