HAHAHA thats why i love this place Lt1's are trash in stock form from a roll and dig. Shouldn't be such a surprise. Now if it was the LS1 The one and only motor that was built by gods hand, thats a differnt story.

Agree 100%. I've gotten my butt handed to me by some well maintained, lightly modded LT1's, and I've also dispatched a few...that were pretty obviously dogged to crap.

As someone whos blown up an LT1 ill tell you they can be fast if modded, and well maintained, but the one in this video doesn't sound like hes taking it to the redline at all...sounds likes hes shifting at 4K instead of 6. Not hard to believe I once knew a guy who shifted before the redline because the engine got to loud....true story.

I'll let ya know how things go, BTW whats the point of picking on weak ppl, I would rather get spanked by SVT Cobra's and WS6's than beat V6 convertible's from highschool.

Either way new and old GT's are in my sights.

oh, I didnt mean V6s, they're a joke. All I meant was that I see a lot of kids getting the 96-98 variety, which had **** poor power from the factory. Im talking some dyno'd under 200!. Plus most young bucks have no idea how to modify a car like that to get anything out of it. Instead of gears and suspension they're spending hundreds of dollars on a body kit or chrome CAI. Then they'll usually run their mouths bc they dont know their ass from a hole in the ground about their own car. The look on their face when a Cobalt beats them by 5 car lengths is priceless.

If you want a good run, find someone with a 99+ or a 96-98 with the PI H/C/I swap who has gears (3.73s or 4.10s), o/r H or X -pipe, free-flowing exhaust (weld-in mufflers or full cat-back), some sort of intake mod like a K&N and throttle body/plenum, then maybe a shifter, U/D pullies, and tuner. Keep in mind the 4.6 in the 99+ cars was built pretty well from the factory, ie the heads flow well, as does the intake manifold and exhaust manifolds. so all these bolt-ons dont do a whole lot, but they probably add up to about......20-30 hp, about 260 to the rear wheels. From a roll it should be close, with your stage 2 you should have him in the upper rpms once you get around 80mph. From a dig it all depends on how long you run. In the 1/4......close call. If he can launch and drive, I'd put my money on the stang but not by much, it could be a race won off the line (R/T). If you take it past the 1/4 you should have him.

Good luck in your conquest against the evil Mustang, just beware of the underhood whistle

In conclusion....

Cobalt drivers need a page long checklist when racing modded V8 mustangs.

not really, just ask him if he has intake, exhaust and gears and it should be fun assuming you've got a stage kit. I put a hurtin on a stock ss/sc last weekend. But I dont think he was the best driver either. hatrickstu has run a lot better times in his then stock car at the same track.

its a real bitch aint it

my last thoughts: if its a whistle, go for it. He'll pull like a mother up top, but at least you can say you tried, and you never know.

If its a whine......gas prices are getting pretty steep, save yourself a few pennies and the risk of a ticket.

I agree with darksun280. By the hand of God. An LT1 might as well be a V6 Mustang Compared to the LS1 and its two big Brothers.

I knew a guy with a third gen camaro 92 350 L98 and we raced from a roll and it would take me to about 110 to pull on him but from a stop i'd lose by about a car so good kill but i don't think somethings right but regardless good kill.
