SS/SC vs SS/SC...factory freak?

So this marks the second time I've raced an SS/SC with a 2.8" pulley and 60#'s and won. The thing that makes me wonder is that I'm only running the GMS2 with the 3" and 42#'s. I also have an intake.

A sunburst orange SS crossed my path at a local CVS and we headed out to main road. His car sounded pretty sick with a nice exhaust note but from around 40 mph, I pulled him twice. This also happened with a silver SS/SC not too long ago and its making me think...

...do I have a factory freak? Or is the GMS2 really that much better? Casue I was thinking about upgrading to a 2.8" or 2.6" with the 60#'s but after beating a couple cars with them installed, I'm worried about maing the jump over.

Any thoughts?

There is no such thing as a factory freak. My guess is the guys you raced had crap tunes to go with their modifications?

If you think factory freaks are real, take it to the track and prove it with some numbers. Street racing proves nothing. Like what was already said, there are too many variables.

whoa man. chill out. All I wanted was a little feedback on the 3" and 42#'s as compared to the 2.8" and 60#'s

i believe you, im kinda in the same boat. its hard to explain, but on my 2.9 and 42#s i have not lost to a 2.8 yet( i know there are countless that will embarrass me just have not came a cross one yet), none of my friends can understand it either. it is possible for you car to just respond better than others even though we have the same motor.

I have GMStg2 with intake (I'm figuring about 250ish) I raced my buddy Ryan(n323er) he has a TVS, Fujita Intake, 3in exhaust (now catless, but not on purpose lol) I think he might have 80#'s.. so anyway, he dyno'd at 278. I pull on him. We are both awesome drivers! BUT, the thing that's killing him is colling mods. His intake temps are through the roof! Almost halfway into the 200's! Heatsoak can equal -30hp to -40 hp. So I can see why I pull on him, and even why you pulled on them

my car dyno's 245 and 220 so your guess isnt too far off! I never knew heatsoak could be so detrimental. Lesson to be learned: dont just increase power haha

factory freaks do exist... we could roll 2 supercharged Cobalts off the lot, put them on the SAME dyno, on the SAME day, with the SAME conditions and they are going to yield different results, not all engines put down the same whp, even stock... I know on the LS1 f-bodies there were some "factory freaks" that would dyno 325whp STOCK

I don't think sick exhaust notes apply to four cylinders, i'm just saying... Then again I bet Chuck Norris can drive an economy car and make the exhaust sound sick! Haha, I should post that on the Norris facts page!

I would agree with others in saying it is probably the tune. What are you dyno or track numbers?

I dyno'd 245 hp and 225 ft lbs tq on a dynojet but the GM tune is **** too! I ran mad rich (10.6 or 10.7) so I don think it's just their tunes that are making my car better. Heat soak sounds like a bigger problem but when I ran the silver Balt, the outcome was the same each time so he wasn't getting any slower...wouldn't heat soak make you slower and slower as you kept racing cause the engine would keep getting hotter?

There are factory freaks in almost everything made today, especially bike's and atv's, cars are no exceptions either they all produce different power levels. No car is the same.

But could the tune honestly be the case against 2 different cars?

The tune could be the biggest factor like someone else said he probably has a crappy tune.
