SS/tc vs 2008 Stock M3

So I'm driving out of my neighborhood and as I pull out onto the main road and stop at the light an M3 pulls up next to me. The light changes and we both accelerate normally but as soon as I shift to second he floors it so of course I did as well, we both launch like bats out of hell and I slooowwwly start edging him and as soon as we hit the speed limit(50mph) we both let off and slow down because we are at the next light. The guy looks over at me dazed and confused and asks, "How on earth can your car accelerate faster then my car? What kind of car is that? Whaaaat do you have NOS or something?" I said its a Chevy Cobalt and its stock except for the exhaust system, his mouth basically dropped and I turned in the grocery store where I was going.

As I'm parking an Evo pulls up next to me and the guy rolls down his window and says, "Hey holmes, whatch ya got done to that thing, I saw you pull'n on dat M3". I told him its the K&N filter dude(lol), he laughs and tells me I should go out with him and his boys to some local spots.....

I know its not really a kill but it was interesting to me....

Praise the lord it you didn't go much further because he would have started running from ya. With 295 ftlbs but 414 hp they are highway runners with dang near 114 traps and very little low end to work with. I have been wanting to catch one from a roll just to see how I would do, I would lose but how much? Same thing with the IS-F and the C63, these little german hot rod sedans move out...

Yea, I know at higher speeds it would be a different turn out but I was happy that day, i wonder how my 315hp/350tq would have done at highway speeds. Sadly I never drive fast on the highway, I'm to afraid of losing my license or going to jail....

He was probably about 25 years old....

So are you stock, or do you have exhaust and a k&n filter, or are you tuned? I've seen you say you had these 3 things done, but which is the truth?

There's one out on the track here on Sat and it lapped me.... over 30 000 put into it. They guy said the big brake kit was over 10 000 bucks... Anyone confirm this? I believe it, that car was sick.... 2 SC's came out, both broke down...One had the "boxer" sound, dip stick puked out...

I lapped a noob in a 370z ... lol

I have a 2004 BMW M3 and the driving characteristics are similar to the new ones....until around 4000 RPM, they have no torque and not an incredible amount of pickup.....in the high revs though, the engines work very well and can really get the car to high speeds quickly...even if you are tuned the new ones will beat you once you start hitting higher MPH.

Well at what mph does a race become irrelivant? I mean... "Yeah I was losing until 140 mph then I finally edged him out..." is kinda ghey especially on the streets

Well, if you look at hp/tq #'s you can basically tell what any SS/tc has, so of course I'm not stock and yes I have "stuff" done. You've seen me say three things, I have all three and then some but when I talk to owners of other cars at the track(Summit Point, VIR etc) I never tell them what I have. I basically let them guess....

I'm well aware of how they run, I almost bought an 07 M3 before I bought the cobalt but I couldnt justify an M3 as a commuter car....lol....

That is just stupid if you ask me. Now your sounding like in the "Fast and the Furious" movie. Dont lie about your mods, because if you were stock you wouldnt beat some of the cars you beat, and then the owners think there is something wrong and that is how everyone gets mis-informed about ****.

Wow.... Talk about over analyzing, if it sounds stupid to you then so be it. Because I prefer not to tell people what I have in my car when I'm at the track is irrelevant, other owners don't think something is "wrong" they generally just think its a quick car.....

i agree with Future... calling your **** stock is stupid if it isn't, and its super rice. Especially if you say you "beat an M3" to 50mph. And by the way, A race to 50mph isn't really a race.... if you're pushing over 300 hp/tq it should have been a single, 2nd gear acceleration, for like 3 seconds.

Holyshit, somebody agreed with me, LOL. But yeah, it wasnt really a race, and not telling people what you really have done is "rice" like!!
