ss vs m-62 svt focus

i ran into a guy that is testing out a kit for his svt focus, it's a complete supercharger kit with an m-62, management, aftercooler (looked identical to ours), intake, and a few other goodies. his blower was mounted inbetween the firewall and the engine up underneath the intake, so you couldn't see it no matter how hard you looked. he said it took the shop about 16 hours to get everything installed, the svt's got a 2.0L as well, but the compression is 10:1 so he can only run 10psi maximum without replacing the pistons and rods.

we didn't really run but we will soon enough, we talked for about an hour checking each other's rides out and then as we were pulling out we hit a stretch of highway and he jumped on it, i followed. we were going pretty good and were staying right next to each other to about 100 or so, the only reason i did was because his was a six speed and he had to keep shifting. he also had a couple hundred pounds of car parts in his trunk.

i know the results of the next run in are going to be me = lose, cause those focus' are pretty lightweight. but it was definitely a nice ride.

I've ran into a turbo charged focus. He lowered his compression and replaced just about every internal in the motor. He showed me a time slip, it ran 12's. Yikes! This was at the dream cruise just this year.

A blown svtf will most likely beat a stock 2.0, but it will probably be a driver's race. Most owner's of blown svtf's run about 14 flat. Sounds like you r friend either has the Powerworks kit, or the JRSC "big boost" kit. I think from a dig you may beat them, due to the tall first gear, but from a roll, he'll probably beat you. they have a sweet 7200rpm redline that sounds pretty wicked (even with the stock exhaust).

i don't know about the driver's race thing... those cars are 300 pounds lighter, the car comes stock with 200hp, plus the blower probably gives it easily a 30-40% if not more of a power increase. and that's not including any of the other work he has done

Only 170 hp stock... but I think your right about the weight .. I think they are around 2550-2600... Seems like 210-230whp and 165-185 wtrq for a SVTF with JRSC Big Boost Kit from what ive read... Power works kits are about 20-40whp and 20-40wtrq more then that... I think it would be a struggle to keep up with a well tuned one.... Would be a fun race though ! I would love to give it a shot

svtf= 2750 lbs. The "regular" focus weighs about 2600 lbs.
