Smile ss vs. modded gtp

one of my new guys at work has a gtp, and he happened to be leaving when i was going on lunch so he asked when we were gonna race. we decided we'd go right then and do it for $20... just to make it worth some gas money. i'm not sure what all mods he had but i will find out on sunday. one of his freinds said he has a lot of money into it. me = bone stock (water injection kit isn't installed atm)

we got on the freeway @ 60 and ran up to around 110-115, on the third honk he jumped a little before i did and he only pulled away from me about 1/2 car very slowly during the entire run... since i was limited on my time we couldn't run again, but it was so close i think throwing in some high octane and not having 3/4 of a tank i should be able to possibly take him... but then again i don't know how much fuel or other things he might have had going on. i think he was pretty suprised i was on his ass like that cause he thought the cobalts weren't that fast.

when we get some time we'll be doing a 20, 40, 60 rolls to really see who can outrun who. and i'll get a list of his mods up... i'm thinking about getting my waterinjection back in and running high octane with about 1/4 tank of fuel and catching him off gaurd to go double or nothing in a day or so lol....we'll see

I raced a modded Buick Regal GSE, he had and a CAI, from what he said, a stage 2 pulley, and catback exhaust. We raced from the lights and I walked him by at least 3 car lengths. We went from 0-90mph. The closect he got to me was when I shifted from 1st to 2nd gear, he was looking at my wing. When I went into 2nd and started making good power, it was all over. I started to pull away pretty hard, he looked quit dissappointed in the outcome. He seemed very cocky at the lights, it felt good to put him in his place!

If it was in fact a Regal GSE and it had a smaller pulley, catback and CAI/FWI he should be damn near into the high 13's so you putting 3 cars on a low 14 second/high 13 second car is kind of ummm well.....i dunno. I have them same mods and run a 13.9 with a 2.5 60ft. So your saying you have like a low 13 second car? He may have screwed up launching or something who know just don't go thinking your gonna beat every one. You will find a mean one at a light someday that knows how to drive.

hehe, like me , a guy in our car club got one and ofcourse wanted to race to see where he was compared. well from a stop i smoked the tires and he got a good launch and even being behind from that before i shifted into second i was past him. there arent alot of guys out there that have gtps that are heavily mod'd so ull probly be alright but eventually ull meet up with a gtp or gse that has alittle somethin under the hood to suprize you

Yeah I'll hand it to you 3800 supercharged guys. You're not quite as fast stock for stock, but with some mods those things can really fly. Of course, mod for mod the SS/SC is always gonna be just a little faster

yeah probly, but if you let the gtp's become intercooled before you go mod for mod i think it would be be pretty close, after all you guys are intercooled stock and we have the "heaton" m90 without, we get I/C'd and the car is completely different, then again i have yet to run into a mod'd cobalt, patrick wont have his mod'd for awhile so ill let u know when its done
