From my expierence tonight Z's are pretty slow, I mean he jumped me by about 1-2 cars and I realed him in and took him by three...there is no point in lieing either so just wanting you to know that this is no joke...it truely did happen. Wish he was still on the boards so he would chime in.

350z vs USMC

Cai - Stage 2 - 2.8" - GMPP Honed header - XTC downpipe - GMPP performance Exhaust

Those are my power makers. I really don't see a stock SS/SC beating a 350z, "No Problem". I think it'd be real close.

Man these threads are funny..

03-06..Stock for stock Z will win from a dig or a roll. Granted you have good drivers in both cars.

03-06...I/h/e Z vs stage 2 Balt SS/SC. Drivers race from a roll with good drivers. From a dig the Z will win.

03-06...Boosted Z..... No comparison there, as most boosted Z's run high 11's/ low 12's with good drivers.

07 with the VQ35HR.. Stock most people are seeing 13.3-13.6@103-106.

Right now with just exhaust and dr's they have seen 13.1's@106.

And your point is? Nobody said they were slow. In fact... we know they are quick... which is why there is a reason to celebrate a victory. And Stock for Stock against an 03-06 - 35 roll... the Z doesn't win. It pulls ahead in 2nd... but the SS takes the lead back in 3rd.

I disagree on that. I never had a stock ss s/c ever come close to me..

Stage 2 Balt vs my spacer/drop in filter/y pipe ended with him a car behind from a roll.

Like i said with a good driver a z(stock) will beat a stock balt from any point...

My z stock went 13.8@102.7 with a 2.1 60ft

In previous post some did say the z was slow. That is the point. Stating numbers with facts.

The above bold print is key... and it goes for the SS as well. The SS is an easy car to F@ck up. I saw a guy run between 16.5 and 18 all night in his SS/SC at the track. Why? Because he was a moron. There's a lot of them running around these days - Moron's that is!

Z's are nice... and I like the new look they got going on. Now they just need to come stock with a RB26DETT! Then I'd buy one! As long as the price stayed around $30,000!

Overpriced... No... Underpowered the pre 07's were. The 07's with good drivers are running the same times as the 6.0 goats are with good drivers.

I think the Z is alittle more fun to drive than the goat. Especially on a twisty road, like the Tail of the Dragon.

I have beat at least 3 at the track, and a hand full on the street. Those ones at the track had little to no mods running like low 14s. One of them was running 13.7-13.9 but I still had him beat by 1-3 tenths every time.

well all the 350z's that i have raced have seen the tail lights except for one. he had at least exhaust, since i could hear that. beyond that i dont know what he had, but that race was DEAD even. of course that was with a smaller pulley and no tune...
i think stock for stock, the z's are supposed to be faster, but there are very few drivers out there that can actually pull that off i guess. whats up with that???!!!

i used to beat Z's all the time with my hemi truck. and my balt is just a tad bit faster than the truck. however the only z ive raced so far with my balt had a "shitload" of stuff in it as the guy told me. he beat me by 2 car lengths, he had the jump on me and i had 3 people in my balt. he was surpised i kept so close and gave me props for it.

35k? Ouch, usually people get them around 27-28k brand new. And it's a whole lot more car than a 350z.

12.8-13.0 they go stock? I ran a 13.0 in my goat and I'm not even a good driver. Do they trap 108-110?

LOL *Laughs* They are a joke unless there is a lot done to them. From a dig you can inch past them by top of second. From a roll, they will never pull on you. Sometimes I wish I had videos of my Z kills.

Raced a Single turbo once on the freeway from ~80-150mph (bottom of 3rd gear to the top of 4th). He stayed with me about 1/2 car behind (His front bumper at my door) until about 120. Then he started to lose it, and slipped back a little farther and farther. By the time I hit 150, I would say I had about 4 cars on him. Not the easiest of kills, because it took a lot of stupidity, disregard, and determination, but I wanted to prove to him that he couldn't get away with doing a ricer fly-by while laughing at me, and not get to prove his worth. I bet he never saw it coming, and I was actually thinking I would lose, but glad to prove to him that you can't be that arrogant on the road, because a bright ass yellow "cavalier" might just out run you when you don't see it coming!

And as a note to turbo cars. If you drive by and blast your BOV like an idiot, consider that a slapping me with your gauntlet, because you just asked for a duel. I'm tired of SRT-4 and EVO's driving around flaunting their BOV.

I must say, Z's can handle like a ****, but when was the last time you ever raced another car through a windy road with blind turns?

Z's are overpriced for their performance. Point in case: Z with similar options to an SS/SC (leather etc) will cost you over 30k, SS/SC 21k. What could you do with the extra $9k on a cobalt....hmm...... for that budget you would still have a stock Z for the money. Hell you could be stock and still be too close to call from a roll, and iffy from a dig.

But by far the biggest joke of the year has been the new Civic Si. They looked awesome when they first came out, but now they are just a convenient place for people to store their surplus tampons.

Sure they handle well, but nothing crazy. I saw a review in a car & driver or Motortrend where the 07 350z ran like .1 faster than a Mustang GT around a track. We all know how well Mustang GT's handle. They also tested both the stang and the 350 at a 13.7 @ 104. Not too bad, but for the $38,500 price as tested it could use another oh, hundred horses.

With the 07 a good driver should be able to turn mid-high 13 all day. Still 100 horses and more than a half second slower than it should be though.

this story makes me feel calm about this guy wanting to race me with a Z. when i race him i'll be 2.8" 42's intake/exhaust so it should be no problem.
