stage 2 + ss/sc vs Stage 1+ Evo X

i spotted the ss/sc leaving the same bar as me earleir tonight. so i pulled up next to him after hearing the blower and asked him what he had done, i explained to him that i used to have the same car. He told me he had a 2.5 pulley with header back exhaust and an intake.

at first i thought wow this should be a good race, ive never seen a 2.5 pulley ss/sc in action. but then he said ti was installed by the dealer... so im gonna go ahead and assume its just a regular stage 2 and he doesnt know much about his car. i asked him if he wanted to go for a pull on the highway and he agreed.

we did a 2 40 rolls, and 1 60 roll. im not even going to describe the race lets jsut say all 3 of them were buses and buses and buses.

so i came to the conclusion that A. his car is OLD and not running well, or B. he doesnt have a stage kit. by busses i mean the car didnt put up any sort of fight. , it didnt even jump on me in second like it should.

We were both completely sober, I had 1 corona 2 hours earlier.

And yeah I highly doubt he had a 2.5, he doesn't know who ottp is or intense, and he said it was installed at a dealer , a dealer would not install that pulley. I'm guessing it was stage 2. In the last few months I owned my balt, it deteriorated immensly. Probably only put out 150 at the wheels

His might be old also.

even if he was just a stage 2 no way that it could had been buses of leght. maybe something was wrong with it. i could imagine the evo pulling away but not by buses. cuz i have raced an stock evo x when i had a 2.7 on 60s intake and exhaust and beat it by about a car and a half. just saying.

ohh and defenately not a 2.5 for sure.

stock Evo X's have a horrible tune. even just the Cobb tune wakes them up quite a bit.

am sure with a proper tune evos gotta wake up. i mean i dont think the X is slow at all, i personally like it but with that previous set up i had i was able to keep up with them and beat the one i raced. then again it was stock so... nothing big. never raced any tuned or modded so i wouldnt know the difference.

From a 40- 120 roll my mods make about a 5-6 car difference vs a stock evo. I know this from experience. But even with that has car seemed to be weak it should jump on me even if its only a little from second gear

i had MANY track days, auto x, lapping, drag strip. hundreds of street races(not joking, hundreds) the car had 66k miles.

and not 1 reliability issue other than my f***ing mysterious cruise control that had a mind of its own.

the car did deteriorate however. cars that i would only lose to by 1 car, before i returned it i would lose to by 4-5 cars

LOL if you put 5-6 cars of difference on stock evos from a 40 roll which i believe is our best point to race from a roll then i think you were asking alittle too much from a car that most likely does have a 2.5 with the rest of stated mods and probably runnin stock injetors and untuned lol.

well my thoughts were : a stage 2 ss/sc keeps up with an ss/tc which is faster than a stock evo from a roll. so if he does have smaller than stage 2 pulley it should be a good race. however after saying the dealer installed im thinking its gms2. but after hearing your story with the 2.7 vs a stock evo, its possible it was stage 2.
