Stock GT, STI, S2K, SS/TC!
So. How's about this. I went to China for some mandarin chicken to see if it's the same as it was here in America. Brought the cobalt with just in case I ran across some interesting cars. I did.
First was a stock GT mustang with exhaust. He lined up at a light and gave me that "you're a 4-banger, you're hardly worth my time" look.
The light turned green and we left. He took off in a blaze of fury. by that I mean he was furiously blazing his tires while I caught traction fairly quickly and walked on by. second gear had a nice little squeak as I continued to plunge forward. by the end of second gear, I was at least two cars out.
At the next light he was smiling and pointing at my car. when the lights changed, he didn't try again.
A very pretty 08-09-ish STI rolls up that same night. He races someone I've raced before and wins. i think I may have a chance so we line up on a 50 roll.....Yeah...no. He launched about a bumper out from the third honk and kept gaining distance through third. Nevermind him for now.....I've got something for him (I'll mention that later)
An s2000 meets me and I was happy because I have never really had a good race with one. We go from about 40 and I walk him the whole way out. This is significant because I've said before that I have NO power from 40. Which reminds me....
There was one race that kind of pissed me off. An NSRT4.
So I meet this kid whom I've talked to in my travels several times. We have run a few times. I've never really had a good race with this guy because he never wants to dig from a light and when he does race, he always wants to go from 40.
I ask for a dig.
No.
I ask for a 10 roll.
No.
I ask for a 20 roll.
No.
Ok. Fine. Let's find somewhere we can do a 50 roll.
Ok.
So we line up....and this guy drops down to 30! Jackass.
Part of me thinks, ok. **** it. I'll just drop it into first and spank him. so I did. but first is over in a flash so There's no point to that so After I hit it for a second I see there's no point and just stop. So here I am coasting along at 30 watching him go. and go....
and go...........
Why the hell is he still going? doesn't he see me back here? I know he doesn't think I'm racing. He's going to say he put 53 buslengths on me because I wasn't going.
We keep driving and I try to line up at 50, but he won't line up...
Ok.
I drop down to 20 so I can actually USE first gear...
He won't line up. after a while I pull up next to him and he screams "I've got a turbo leak"
Yeah. Ok buddy........grumble grumble. so whatever.
So..Last but not least, I finally met an SS/TC!!!!!!!!!!Woo hoo!!
We talked for a bit and decided to do a dig (Cobalt owners seem to be more than happy to dig...unlike every NSRT4 I've met)
On the third honk, We launched fairly close together. I scooted out by maybe a bumper, so I can't complain. We were both spinning.
Hit second and it was even steven. I may have edged him out by inches, but not more. Third he started pulling strong and finally passed by maybe a bumper before the end of the run. I think if he had had a bit more space he would have had me pretty good in third.
He said he used launch control and NLS so I was happy as a clam. When he said he was on a 22psi tune and dyno'ed 315whp I could have done a backflip! He explained to me that he gets real power in third gear and that one day we'll have to run from a nice roll. I said sure. Maybe we'll meet in Norway for some fish pudding and have a nice race. He may rip my doors off, but I'm just happy to know another cobalt owner who likes to...travel. hehe :P
I think I'll get to meet this guy again. I never thought I'd do this good against a TC up at 4400 feet.....in China.
I am getting 2.7 pulley, 60# inj. and a tune today. mua ha ha. My next wave of stories should be..interesting. I'm going to re-race everyone who has ever beat me. I'll tell you about it when i can. Lots of fun coming soon.

Those runs were with the stock pulley. I have now installed a 2.7 and 60's running rich and trying to tune today...tried to tune yesterday but had software problems.
LOL at not knowing that I DO take my car everywhere with me and race all over the world.......really.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
BTW. The chicken was delicious. A little sweeter than I like normally, but good nonetheless. Overall it was worth it. :P

Oh, well, there's no point in doing it at all. I only race for schidts and giggles. It's just fun for me. Call me a pansy or whatever you want but money just takes all the fun out of it for me.
You'd probably blow my doors off anyways. I was just surprised to keep up with a TC, he took me in the end though.

I wish I could make it out to you. I don't think I'm faster, or whatever. Just want to see where I stand. I wouldn't care if they killed the crap out of me, just make it a fair race (dig?)and have some fun with it.

Then there's what happens before and after the race, the counless hours of schidt-talking, anger, inspections, incredulity...I've even seen my friends having guns pulled on them over $20.
I'm not saying everyone does all this. I don't claim to know what you or anyone else is going to do.
If it was all in simple good-natured fun, I'm sure a race between us would be epic, but money makes me nervous.

Hmmmm...Well, I'm not deciding anything on a forum. I don't street race. Especially not anywhere in America. We'll hang out in person at some point. Maybe we can jump on my personal jumbo jet and fly to Africa somewhere where they are too hungry and poor to care about street racing. PM me.
