SVT Focus

I was just cruisin around after leavin my old lady's house, and stumbled upon at a little car meet at a local o'reilys. I didnt really feel like stopping and bullshiting with the local high school kids who think there cool, no offense to the guys on here, its just my area is prone to lots of immature high schoolers. So anywho, i take a turn onto a street thats like right next to this little meet and i downshift normally and of course it pops, and some dude in a svt focus hauls ass to catch up to me. So i just start driving normally while this guy tailgates me, he finally gets next to me and we proceed to slow down to about 35ish, at this point im thinking damn, im not in my powerband cause 1st for my car ends at about 30, and 2nd gear at about 35 is like 2800-3000. So im like okay, ill prolly get beaten by a car or so. So i do the usual 3 honks and let'er rip, and i was surpirised to find out i put a half car on him, then i go to 3rd, and make it a full car length. Im kinda surpirsed the focus lost to my piece, but oh well. Just kinda excited i beat a top of the line car with my some what base sedan, woohoo!!!

Holy **** dude, what all do you have done to your car????? And are you sure it wasn't a fake SVT? Seems to be one of the more popular models to fake out. 25 more hp and 200 lbs lighter should make a BIG difference unless you've got a lot of mods and he's bone stock.

uhm...i dunno the SVT Focus specs but the BEST I've ever seen run in real life was like mid 15's in the 1/4 mile....that was modded....maybe it wasnt a good driver but there were a bunch up there and thats what they were getting 15's and 16's....

We were running fast that night too so it wasnt track conditions.....

2.2L with full custom catback exhaust 2.5in, no muffler,30in resonator, Intake baffle taken out. It wasnt a fake unless he bought all the body parts and badges and wheels, which is a little extreme to just show off a regular focus. I also think i won because he was a ******* high schooler who doesnt know how to drive, not saying im mr. perfect or anything, but my last trip out to the track i clocked in a 15.73@87, so i at least thought i was gonna keep up with the focus not beat, but what do ya know...

Car weighs in @ 2880 with full tank of gas well.

People are doing the same thing with Base/LS/LTs to make them look like SSs why is it so hard to believe Foci would do it. Either way with your time I believe it is possible you beat an SVTF, but it was the SVTs race to lose.

Torque does make a diff from a dig and the intial start in the roll races after that hp keeps you going.

Hmm... no, not really.... at least, not in the way most people think of it.

Well, whatever your source and experience indicate, the truth is that the SVT Focus is capable of low-mid 15's stock. It's been done on many occasions.

First, when the SVTF was introduced, there was no SRT-4 or Cobalt SS. It was easily in the same league as it's competitors in the 1/4, and it had/has well-above average handling. Not to mention, anyone who pays MSRP for a domestic is a dummy. I could have bought a brand new one for well under 20k.

Secondly, again, it doesn't matter what that site says. It could say 22.6 seconds, and that wouldn't change the fact that plenty of stock SVTF's have gone low-mid 15's.

easy killer i'm not trying to get into a pissing match with you over the beloved focus I'm just stating my OPINION (read that last word carefully) I have a friend whom owns one and have seen plenty run at the track....all of which I have never seen run any faster than a 15.7 completely stock. Like you are saying there are RARE cases of them running even lower than what they are "supposed" to run just like I have seen stock GTO's run roughly about 12.7.....but fact being the mass majority does not

OK, pretty sure you misunderstood my tone.

Anyway, I understand your point that you haven't seen any run low-mid 15's stock, however, one person's experience is statistically insignificant in light of all the Foci that have done so.

I could easily go to the track 100 times and never see a Cobalt SS/SC do better than 14.8 stock, given that I would only see a handful of different cars out there, and the fact that plenty of guys with SS/SC's are running high 14's. That doesn't, however, mean that the car is incapable of low-mid 14's.

I'm going to Englishtown Friday the 24th of this month. Anybody in my area is welcome to join me. I won't be running though (i'm not old enough without parents permission) but bluecobaltss06 is going and running. He's currently stock. Maybe he will get some good times.

I hope I have my car by then

First off read that link, it even says that those are not the average times or best times. Secondly SVT Foci started at about 17k brand new and came with a really good sound system, awesome 6spd tranny(crappy clutch), nice tires and 17in wheels, awesome interior, and were all individualy numbered special editions. No matter what you say or think that is a hell of a deal for 17k.

Also it is funny how you say you are just stating a fact here and then later you say you are just saying your opinion. Make up your mind.
