T/C vs 2001 Porsche 911 turbo?

Was on a lunch break and went to arby's (hmmm Im thinkin arby's), saw this beautiful 911 porsche with the word turbo written across the back stared at it walking in while my yellow car was parked a space away from that red beauty!.
Finished my lunch and came out at the same time the porsche owner and his friend came out got in my car and waited for him to back out first. The friend stared at my car, no rude gestures involved or anything like that. I followed him out on to the road and we were both in a left turn lane heading back to work. Well...

I had my windows down and I heard that porsche reving up, I go "OOOoo this will be fun!" The porsche guns in and I gun it through the turn. Pull on him through the turn easily, we get to the straight away and hes going full out there's black puffs coming out of his exhaust at every shift. I was bumper to bumper with him the whole way weaving through light traffic up to 88mph before we got to our turns and went our seperate ways. As I made my turn his friend looked over with the classic "dumbfounded" look. I just smiled and went back to work.

This isn't a look what I beat thread, especially since I didnt beat him, lol. I kept up with a sick ass 80k$ car and I thought you guys would like to know what maybe within our range. I know most of you are gonna look up the specs as well as I did on that porsche, It's strange I know 400hp porsche vs 260hp chevy, doesnt add up. I figure he may have not changed his oil in awhile? but that porsche was BEAUTIFUL, well taken care of on the outside.

i drove one of those when i was in richmond at the dealership on motor mile rd the one i drove was an 04 i think but no way in hell my stock tc could keep up with that porsche
maybe driver mod might be the reason you did say light traffic he might be worried

side note when you get a chance sit in one even if in the passenger seat you will sit in a cloud and get a warm fuzzy feeling inside

yea, thats my guess. It was alot of fun though. i just remeber seeing that one member roadracing his stock T/C against the Supersnake and the viper and catching them throughout the course. I think I had such an advantage on the porsche through the turn that the short distance we drove (about 1/4 mile) was what kept me behind him. If we had gone above 100mph then Im certain theres no chance in hell i'd have kept up. and the road wasnt really a straight away, it was more of a long sweep.

I don't know where to start. How about at 88 MPH did you blast back in time?

You couldn't hang on the bumper of a NA 911 Let alone a Turbo one. Take that as you will, but you might want to go find a new Viper or Z06 to run today because if you do tomorrow you might lose your HP that you had today to keep up with such a superior car! I think the saying "anything you can do I can do better" comes to mind.

This is another instance of how the TC can hang with "any" car mentality...

oh this happened last week by the way, so I already lost all that magical horsepower. Thanks for your 2 cents though, it was really juvenile.

What is juvenile is you coming on here saying you hung right with a Turbo Porsche with a stock TC and not having a turbo upgrade. That is what High School kids say, are you a High School kid?

Just glad I can maybe provide some insight for your future endeavours though!

I think I have finally come to the conclusion that stock or modded Cobalt TC>all

hey buddy, my post wasnt about worshipping the T/C and praying to the god's of GMPD. I just posted this because this happened, end of story. I love porsche just as much as anyone else, im not burning the fact that the porsche is a much better car (faster). This really happened, the porsche did not pull away up to 85-88mph (not quite 90). I just wanted to be another T/C owner that saying these cars perform pretty well. And I am not a high school kid.

explain why I need a turbo upgrade in order to keep up with a porsche anyways? I dont get that.

I think the point is that properly driven the 911 turbo would have ripped bus lengths on you. You have to take into context that most people dont know how to drive their cars and the guy was probably short shifting. The numbers dont lie....911 turbo absolutley murders the cobalt ss in everything.

He probably wasn't goin WOT. That car is far quicker than yours and can out handle yours with ease. If he was WOT he would have pulled numerous cars in a matter of seconds. I'm sure he was still surprised that you did that well, but I highly doubt he was really wot. Lots of "exotic" drivers don't really ever go as hard as they can. My dad's never gone WOT on his car, I've gone faster in the thing than he has

Interesting story bro. That is interesting indeed. He probably under estimated you and then when you were right next to him, bet it was interesting. Nice story man. I would have to agree, I dunno if he was WOT though.

I understand what you were saying.

Yea this thread sure did become a waste of my time..

As said I am sure the guy wasnt going WOT.. (I know if I was in a turbo 911 I wouldnt if I were racing a cobalt ) but still a good story nonetheless..

It said turbo on the back, and he did rev the motor up. Everyone knows what that sounds like. I know a 911 turbo would spank the crap outta me, wasnt denying that in this thread. But I only spoke what I saw. He definately could have been short shifting it, that is most likely what happened, or he was just not over doing it in light traffic. And yea, agreed.... War Stories should be changed to Stories people call BS. lol. I think Im gonna try an experiment here. lets see if any of you can figure out what it is. :P

P.S. - Is there another porsche out there that is similar to a 911 turbo, with the words "turbo" and only turbo written across the back? I might have mistaken my porsches?

A friend of mine just rode in a modded 911. Went from awd to rwd, stroked and twin turbo. Made over a thousand hp on the race gas tune and it did over 175 ini 4th gear.

Way to own your self with Grammar there dude

OP, in regard to your Turbo on the back part, they could have easily been put on there. All cars have tool owners, it is no longer reserved for ricers. Hence the reason some like to debadge while others like to put higher end sticker on their cars. Ever see a 328 BMW with M badges on it? Same thing, shameful I know.

Tyler

BTW, are you even foreign ElDude? Let me guess, you got some chinese tatoo's on your arm right?
