TC vs 5.0?

So my dad is getting a Automatic 5.0, he hasn't stopped blabbing about how insane fast it is.

Curious if a bone stock SS/TC could possible keep up? I was thinking 24 PSI Trifecta tune and a little weight reduction.

He seems to think it will totally obliterate my car fresh off the lot even with a tune. Vince was going to hook me up with a great deal as well.

What do you guys think?

You will need tune and downpipe at least.

Now, E47 tune + downpipe = win.

There is only a handful of e85 gas stations in ALL of Canada, and no e47 gas stations at all. We are REALLY ghetto up here.

As far as I know, the best gas I Have is Husky 94 with "up to %10 ethanol" (i think) so thats effectively e10 if I understand the concept?

EDIT: looks like our sister city in my province does have e85! Only its a 3 hours drive away.. good to know though. There is hope we could have it here too at some point!

A lot is going to play into this, but let's look power to weight ratios. They have 412 bhp, and weigh 3,575 lbs. Stock we are 260 bhp, and weigh 2,960 lbs iirc. Assuming he only loses 15% through the drivetrain, he will have 350 whp. This comes out to roughly 10 lbs/hp. Basically in order to be "equal" to him for a roll race you will need 300ish whp. Basically a tune and a downpipe. Now if you want to really pull him in a roll you will need an e47 tune + bolt ons. To make it hurt even more, pull your spare tire and jack out, and swap your battery out for a lightweight one and you will pull approximately 60 lbs off so that you should be sitting at 2,900 lbs, with full fluids in the car. If you get 330 whp and the weight down to 2,900 lbs, you would be sitting roughly at 8.8 lbs/hp. 330 whp should be achievable without an E blend, just a good tune and bolt ons.

Oh and e47 is just a blend of 50/50, e85 and premium gas

stock for stock he will put buses on you, you with just a tune can be either an even race depending on your driving skill but he has the upper hand on winning from any kind of race still. 5.0s are no joke. stock are quick but bolted and tuned not even a e47+bolt on lnf would be able to keep up

Yeah hes pretty old school so id bet he would be rocking the car full weight and a full tank of gas...

Id probably do a 5 liters of gas fill, no spare, subwoofer or washer fluid... and a 24PSI trifecta tune dialed in for that 94 octane gas I can get.

All I would be hoping for is to not get pulled buses on - when both our cars are effectively physically stock. Hes getting his truck tuned and as part of the deal with vince he said he would tune my car for $140.

Im happy with him creeping on me, hes car will be exactly twice the cost of mine was off the lot, so il take that.

My dad just doesnt believe that $140 can make my car as fast as his dream car - or at least pretty damn close, all the while getting the MPG of a honda civic. He is a 4CYL hater.

Haha, it also takes about 30 seconds! Easier than anything else

Im just stripping the trunk is all.

That with my DP got my 108MPH trap last year. Thats why I think without the DP and a increase in boost. Id be able to hit that magical area of what a stock auto 5.0 traps.. or at least the passing power (not from a dig).

So I read a thread on this site about how honda's suck because they all have to be gutted to be fast. Then a few days later read this thread about gutting a TC to try and keep up with a Mustang.... Leave the **** in the car, 100lbs will only net a 1/10 of a second. You are going to need more than that by a long shot.

Then why talk about it? removing 75lbs of stuff is going to accomplish nothing. You would have better results farting in between shifts.

I have a bottle of Milk Of Magnesium chilling in my fridge lol

So I will effectively be spraying during the race, just not with nitrous.

the autos are quicker too. depends on his rear end a bit but if hes just going to run it for fun and you are worrying like a teenager going to prom then hes already beat you. hes in his dream car and youre trying to find ways to cheat so your 4cyl doesnt look bad.
