And people in this thread, my dad will be paying for my tune. I'm responsible for correspondence and the shipping and receiving involved with the whole process. He has a 6.2 Denali he's supping up a bit first anyhow. And my Balt should be tuned long before he buys a car.

The point of the thread is can I hang with a stock mustang 5.0 with a cobalt TC with $140 thrown into it. From my understanding no, but it would be really similar out on the highway.
My buddy stang have a 3in magflow exhaust and 3.73 gears.
Im bolted n hpt tuned

It also depends on his gears, are they the 331s? or the 373s? that past years mustang GTs were almost a joke, but the new 5.0s, you can actually consider them a muscle car.
What? you got pulled!?!? See my vid... I pulled on him everytime... On gms1 it was a different story.

Just get the tune and have fun.. all and all he's got a bigger motor. So he wins, hats off.. he doesn't congrats!

I went to the strip recently with my balt my dad was laughing the best mustang that night there that wasn't heavily modded to my knowledge was a 99 cobra 13.7 and a 08'ish that was 14.3 older mustangs in my opinion were funny. I say that cause 99% of mustang owners think they're gods gift to the street cars. I say that because my brother was one and still thinks that an 88 LX like he had will pull 13's stock.

When it comes to modding every car is different and takes different to it.

I can't wait to bust my fiero back out with the OBD 2 conversion and dyno tune

all and all little 2.0 vs a 5.0... I still give props to the cobalt, but finally give props to the mustang for finally doing what it should've done years ago....

you have a much better tune along with charge pipes and a better FMIC.. not like those make a huge difference but the tune does!

no tune on the stang? that might explain it a little, we put a Hpipe and catback on my buddys 5.0 last week and it ran like complete ass.. it would just hit flat spots in its power range, then he got a tune and wow, lol its like tuning a SS/TC, night and day difference.

5.0 will rape, with GMS1, you cant tune it according to mods so you wouldn't be gaining much, if anything at all, from the bolt ons

If i had a choice in a muscle car i would go with. A boss 302. Op if you want a chance to win bolt on your bolt and tune it and work on your driver mod. Stangs aint joke tho so dont them for granted even with a winning formula

Driver skill varies from person to person. You're apparently a 5.0 nutswinger. Fact is, no one knows the outcome of a race for sure until it actually takes place. Anyway, I heard they need you over on the 350Z forums.

Haha yeah I'm a 5.0 nutswinger hence why I own 2 Nissan Z's and exactly 0 Mustangs. I owned a Cobalt too boss, hence why I'm a member here. Don't like it? That is just to bad.

lol THIS, people are boggled when I tell them every mustang GT up till the new 5.0 is slow as *****, the new 5.0 IS A NICE CAR. It reminds me of the TC in terms of value in a new car..

Your brother is correct. Possible with removed silencer, bumped timing and short belt (free mods) If I had any organizational skills I could show you some proof, VHS style (rips out drawers..shakes out contents)

As for the new stang, I doubt a minor bolt and tune balt could keep up. But anything is possible. Maybe the <made in china> tranny will fail on him during the race

I have ran 2 5.0s with my Gms1, catless dp, k&n drop in-

1st 5.0 was slightly modded and bama tuned, pulled on me badly topping out each gear.

2nd one stock, i somehow managed to hang with, it only pulled a half a car on me after i broke a little traction and i stopped the pull but never came back both runs ( this one had nitrous BTW.. he didnt need it lol)

I bought it with the AED tune.. floating around svtp.com, Shaun at AED is the 5.0 'mad scientist' best tuner for the 5.0s, and riding in a stock 5.0 then a tuned/bolt on 5.0... its amazing, like when you first tune a SS/TC, you're all smiles

This guy is far from a 5.0 nut swinger, he's just comparing a race between 2 cars that has actually happened to a race thats gonna happen..

My conclusion is a tune only TC will have a worse hp to weight ratio but a greater torque to weight ratio. Makes for interesting comparisons!

I keep telling my dad to supercharge that truck version (L92 vortech) of the ls3 he's got.. it would rape a new 5.0 but I think it would at the least cost him $6-7,000 into it. A used 5.0 in Canada is 32-36k.. Sooo I think a sc Denali is way cooler and more original, and ultimately a deadly sleeper - and a lot cheaper than the mustang in the end obviously.

the tuned t/c has better tq for all of its peak 400rpm of torque and quickly dies. its not about peak numbers.
