The TC vs. Corvette

So I was minding my own business when this guy in a silver C6 just started bopping through traffic like it was a slalom race of the year. So I kinda follow him after he starts to ride some other peoples asses. So we both pull up to a stop light and wait. I can hear him revving the engine a little so I get ready for the launch. I launch with no spin and hop out a 1/4 of a car while he is spinning. Right now, my clutch is slipping a little and everytime I would NLS the corvette would pull ahead a 1/4 of a car. After it caught, I would start to pull back that 1/4 on every shift to about 120. He never went anywhere. So I slow down and start to slow to get into my turn lane. He drives across three lanes of traffic and rolls down the window. He said, "What do you have in there?" I said with a really cocky grin, "Lots" He then said "that thing is really fast " and I replied that I had a bad clutch. He just looked really bewildered and took off. I wish I had a fully working clutch. Might have been a WIN!!!

Ya, its a damn travesty. This thing with Meth, exhaust, a wider set of rims and a stickier set of street tires would be a retarded Corvette killer.

Do you have projectors, a carbon fiber hood, and a Cobaltssquebec sticker in your rear passenger window? If so I saw your car at the Napierville track during Mustang Night.

Ok, you stayed next to a probably stock LS2 vette with a pretty much full bolt on TC, in no way shape or form does that constitute a TC as a "retarded corvette killer". There are as many ways a corvette can make you look silly as there are chuck norris facts... Second, stop with the ricer excuse "dude I would have had you if my clutch wasn't slipping". If your clutch is worn out that bad and it is an 09 then learn to drive a little better...

Finally, good run! Was the vette guy an older or younger person? That is a little sleeper you got there.

not to be an ass, but maybe u should read properly before u call someone a ricer, he didnt say "i would have had you but my clutch was slipping" he just said his clutch was slipping.

And his driving has nothing to do with his clutch being worn out, its a stock clutch on a car that produces over 300whp, what u think is gonna happen when he gets on it, i guess it is the driving, but still u make it seem like he rapes on his car all the time. i guess he shoulld just drive it like a granny and never get on it, why does he have the car then?

at least u said nice kill, ill give u that one

Anytime you start listing excuses to the other person after a competition what do you think is going to happen? He might as well as said what I said.

Driving has everything to do with a clutch wearing out...

Why does he have the car? I dunno, maybe cause gas is expensive and he wants to save money so he bought an economy car with a pretty robust clutch in it???

Glad you approve of the last line!

Maybe a Garrett 30 series or equivalent turbo+supporting mods, yes. But on the stock turbo??? That is a severe exaggeration of the truth.

I am still on the stock clutch and as as the OP said mine slips. They start to slip at approx 360 wrtq or so. My Balt is faster than my LS2 GTO was but the GTO is 500 lbs heavier than that C6 vette.

Driver error causes clutch problems. Period. These clutches are fine.

Stock yes but not when our tiny turbos can be tuned to produce close to 400 wrtq at 3K RPMs.

That sure is a broad range of cars, or are you being specific to the new TC's? Of course a bunch of HS kids stomping on a base cobalt as their first car is going to make the clutch go bye bye (its called learning to drive a stick). But with the new Turbo the engineers put a pretty big clutch in the car for its size. On top of that, I really don't think the clutch would be junky if it were warrantied for 100k (not worn out from poor driving) with launch control and NLS as well...

So tell me again, does the new TC clutch "suck donkey *****" or is that just your personel opinion? What is your back ground to make such a claim??? Have you owned say 4 tc's over a 5 year span and they all went bye bye in 30k miles?

There are maybe a handful of members on here that can claim what you just said, the OP isn't one of them...

do you own a cobalt? that was my first question. and no, i wasnt reffering to the tc. i drive an sc and i claim that the sc clutch sucks donkey ass, not *****! get **** right. why would chevrolet come out with the cobalt sc ss and call it a "tuner" when the clutches cant even handle stock power for extended periods. i am making this claim not because of just my experiences but countless others on here too. its an ss, its made to be driven hard. not abused but driven hard. if it wasnt built for that, then it should have never been given an ss badge. who the hell would own 4 cobalts in 5 years anyways? thats ******* stupid!

How much does a new Vette cost, how much does a Cobalt SS/TC cost? Even if you throw on the bad ass ZZP turbo kit, all Bells and whistles, that stock Vette will still cost twice as much.
No doubt a Vette is bad ass, but the majority of Vette owners I have ever met in my life think they are gods gift to cars and all they really did was buy the fastest car there pocket book could afford. I like to see them get smacked around a little by "econo" cars.
