Yeah I ran with a stock GTI, and my SS/SC is stock and I definitely beat him with the DSG, beat him by half a car length actually...

But yeah once you chip a 1.8T or a 2.0T it's not a contest...

That's why GM was smart to finally turbo the 2.0L using the Borg-Warner KDO4 twin scroll turbocharger... It's actually a variant of the KO4 Turbo that's used in VW's and Audi's...

Lots of fanboi's in here....

Now... we know on average that an LSJ can take a GTI... but don't forget that there are a few tuned up 2.0 GTI's that an SS/SC wouldn't dream of messing with... as in 400HP+, rape 90% of the guys on this site kind of fast.

So quit **** talking....

Very true... but it's also the same for any car... Heck yesterday I just saw a new post by someone from Phillie that has a completely rebuilt LSJ, and converted to a turbo and is pushing 550hp... But then again how many of those are there? Very few...

Hey F 399, what does the GTI come with? A KO3 or K04?

Yeah a buddy of mine has a 04 Jetta 1.8T GLI, same turbo I think, He has an APR Stage 3 chip, turbo inlet, CAI, and a full turboback exhaust that we just installed. It's pretty quick...

We did a couple runs back when his was stock, and mine is stock and the races were pretty close, depending on how we were both driving it pretty much ended up in a tie because we'd both lose and win one on the same type of race after doing a couple from a dig, and from some rolls. Although from a 35mph or 40mph roll those turbos just go more than a S/C will....

But yeah, now that GM threw a K04 in the new Cobalt SS, it'll be interesting to see what that can do..

Anyways I like your GTI, and I'm curious to know what you have done to it.

oh ok so pretty much what my buddy has done... Your engine is also rated @20hp + than his is. He was rated @180hp stock.. He hasn't dynoed it or anything after the mods but he's thinking he's cranking over 240 to 260trq max, and idk maybe around around 240hp... So yeah you will beat a bone stock SS/SC easily...

If anyone has a stage 2 SS/SC I think that would put you guys in even territory.

MKV GTIs and GLIs are both nice. A couple of my friends have both of them. Honestly, stock for stock, the ss/sc pulls hard on both of them. With an intake, TBE, and tune they are pretty impressive, but they are only on par with a GM stage 2 ss/sc. Overall, the ss/sc and ss/tc are more performance oreinted and faster, but the VWs are very nice cars and very well put together.
The stock for stock races are proven, and yes even with the DSG.
