it makes me sad that a acura rsx-s can keep up with our boosted balts stock for stock.

ive been talking so much **** about them but i guess i have to give credit where its due. and those things are quick. i would love to have one to work on

My last car (until just this past August) was a bolted and tuned 03 RSX-S. I had some suspension goodies and stuff like that too.

It really makes me shake my head when people ONLY see the torque number and come up with all these crazy ideas that it just HAS to be slow because of that. There's SO much more that plays into it. Mine ran excellent (for an N/A 2.0) 40-135. Stock it was no slouch either.

It's not terribly heavy and it's aerodynamic.

The gearing as well as the gear box is phenomenal! People complain about "oh it has no torque and they have to shift constantly". Well... Honda/Acura did a DAMN fine job with that and it was no problem for me. That thing was just a blast to drive and the shifting was never irritating or tiresome.

The torque may be weak compared to many other cars. But for what it's worth, the gearing made optimum use of it. The torque curve was very very flat. Despite what people believe by looking at numbers. As long as you stayed above 3K it would take off quite well. Also the "peak" was around 6K. But it was sweet for racing because when you shifted the next gear would fall RIGHT in that area. So then it was the peak torque shortly followed by peak HP.

They are capable of having a good launch. That's VERY VERY dependent on the driver. Not the easiest things to launch.
People laugh... go ahead laugh. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears were strong in that car.

I'm not trying to come across as a "fanboi". I just wish people wouldn't look down on them so much. I own an SS/TC now and yes... for about the same money (new vs. new) the SS/TC destroys it in every way. But the RSX-S is a very nice car. There are SOME... REALLY quick ones.
It would take a lot for a 2.2 to take one. I have to admit also, most of the RSX drivers I saw around here were tools. Really unfortunate that the car takes the rap for stupid drivers. It was a nice car.

I agree. I drove one before I had the cobalt and I was impressed. I wanted one for a while after that but never happened lol.

i raced a civic SI when i was stock (except catback). i stayed even all through 1st gear, but as soon as i shifted, he started pulling pretty hard. 6sp > 4sp. also 197hp > 145. a full (and i mean full) bolt on LS with a good driver is about the same as a stock K20a2 with a bad/mediocre driver

sorry really didn't mean to bash the car other then the fact i just don't like honda/acura but thats just my opinion. i just was asking how fast they were becuase of the amount of torque they produce but i can see now its gonna take one helluva build b4 i can go out to hang but trust when i say it will be built

He was right about the launch being very important for honda powered cars. I rocked a GS-R for awhile and if you didn't get the launch just right (even more so than any other car) it reflected in your run. That's why you see RSX's and such have 1/4 mile times all over the place from staggering fast to not all that impressive. Driver mod is the most important thing.

But give it a try, see what your car can do.

They may suffer from a dig due to the low torque figures without the driver mod, but they more than hold their own on the highway.

my ss/sc w/intake vs my fiances 05 rsx-s w intake= my fiance wants a new car. lol

the rsx-s are quick, but its surprising how badly i have beaten them. could be a driver thing tho, but then again i drove my fiance type-s and my buddy drove his ss/sc and we raced off a roll and he spanked me BAD! and i am a pretty good driver.

agreed. but theres a big gap between a domestic (cobalt) and import (rsx)

they way i see it, the imports look a whole lot better with exterior mods and rims. when i put rims on a cobalt, it just doest sit right. its like only imports are made for it. i dunno just my .02. totally random too

I get what your saying though becuase I put 18s on mine and they're nice but they seem to never look as good as other peoples. I dunno it's a preferance really
