Win against an E46 M3.

So I was on my way home and seen this Black BMW take the on ram onto the high way really fast (it's a pretty long sharp turn) so I thought wth I will take that way home. As I got on the ramp I seen him take off even faster and seen the quad tipped exhaust and was like that's an M3, that'll be fun!

I thought I was going to lose regardless but there is a guy at work getting an M3 this fall and I atleast wanted to know what to expect. So I cought up to him (this was a convertable with the SMG trans btw). And I brake hard and try and catch his attention. Well he looks over laughs then just takes off!

At this point I went WTF I wasn't even ready! This was at about 70mph. So I just hit 3rd and took off. He hopped in front of me so it wasn't a side by side race he was pulling me at first up to about 110, at about mid through 4th it got dead even, and at the top of 4th I had to actually let off because I was at his bumper.

I then attempted to get him to again do a side by side race to get ready and he then took right off again after laughing. I was so mad! So anyways this time I was kinda ready, I was in 3rd, but I had the clutch in. He takes off and gets in front of me again. And this time I rode his bumper the whole time.

He was suprised you could tell, I went to get over to turn around as I had passed my exit and he gave me a thumbs up.

So I was happy, I went in expecting to get killed and came out with a win. Was shocked.

i think he means car position, not actually riding his bumper.

How is that a win? How is that even a legit race? It's more of just messing around on the road.

Sorry, no, he got back over after getting in front of me. You think logically anyone would tailgate at 140?

Just throwing this out there, but I don't think of all people you should be calling anyone a moron then if you couldn't pick that one up.

So I guess now whenever someone post in the kill stories, they get yelled at? Delete the section then imo.

It's a win because he took off first, and I still beat him? I mean really people, is the comprehension on this site that bad?

Starting to regret buying the Cobalt just because of the general atmosphere the cobalt owners make. By far the worst community group (on average) out there. There are a lot of great people don't get me wrong but after reading these two post in a kill section, I mean.. Really?

Technically, war stories is for rivalries, not street racing, but everyone thinks that's what it's for.

sounds more like you had a fun run-in with a m3 and you held your own better than you thought you would have.

i guess your saying it was a win because he didn't walk you? in that case i might agree.
technically though you never passed him, so you didn't win the race. correct?

I could see that hindsight to it. And agree I didn't really venture into it. But wasn't isnt a rivalry? Wouldn't any race be considered so?

Ranger: Thanks for the back-up.

And Skip, I suppose if you want to put the words in that fasion that works as well. As I was just looking forward to a benchmark more than anything. As I stated.

I'd think if they were side by side and the M3 didnt just take off like that I'm pretty sure it would have been a win

it sounds like the cobalt might have been the faster car, and i have done it also with a corvette. the corvette could not shake me off of him. i was around 40-50 ft behind. i would not do it again as that is very dangerious driving. and not at all a race to see which car is faster. just my 2cts...

hanging in somebody's draft at over 100mph can make you seem like you are faster than you think.

That is a good point but I still started about 6 cars behind and had to catch up. I don't think the draft would of reached. Or would it of?

You should find another m3 to do some real runs.

I'm impressed with the cobalts, but I never get beside any, They are usually going the opposite direction when I see them.
