Ok guys Im posting this to see what you guys think. I have a friend with a eclipse that has the 420a motor that he turbo'd (a hx35 turbo off a cummins) himself. All he does is talk crap on how he will destroy my car (yet his car never runs or when it does it barely moves). I have a 06 ss with on CAI and Borla exhaust. I told him if he runs his car on 12lbs then I think I will win. He says no and that he is not running under 20lbs....so Im still gonna race him. Just want to know what you guys have to say about this since he turbo'd this car himself and cant even tune it right and keep it running. I say I have him on 12lbs but he has me when he's on 20lbs...give me your thoughts.

That 420a will prolly blowup. Honestly what's it matter?

 

I was just getting some other peoples opinions. it doesnt matter. just seeing cuz the kid talks all **** 24/7 but then never steps up to the plate. Hes my friend thats why it doesnt matter. Just getting some feedback from other cobalt owners.....

 

If he talks it up, but won't run you, it's because he knows the outcome. There are a lot of people like that around here. One kid has a SS/TC and says he has bigger injectors, a bigger turbo and all this other **** but won't pop the hood, or race anyone.

 

no way to tell for all we know his car is running a 9:1 afr with 7 degrees advance or it could be tuned great and have 200 more hp. dyno numbers or trap speeds will tell you. no way to guess his set up or to judge how big of a handicap his tune is without looking at it. however the holset HX35 is a 56mm turbo that will move 52lb/min and is good for almost 500 wheel horsepower at max rpm so I wouldnt underestimate him.

 

Better idea. Go race already.

 

um I had a 420a eclipse and It ran 13's at ~109 but it was fully built and done right and lot of time and money and work. I bet u bet him Most run high 14

 

been trying for months now...keep getting the excuse its not tuned. or some other crap. always excuses.

 

to get a 420a tuned RIGHT will never happen lol I always had KR after 15psi I had one of the best running 420a I ever saw mine also ran for about 2 weeks then broke down for a week lol over and over again DSM

I do all the time!! all he responds with is just wait til im on 30psi. Just respond with dude ur car barely runs without boost....let alone with it. it sounds like sh*t with 12psi. Everyday though, its something new. So i just say hey my car runs everyday and gets me around, its not just sitting at my house being useless...lol

 

Tell him he should have stuck with the 4g63. 30 psi lmao. That 420a better be BUILT.

 

He calls it built...but it's def not for 30psi. Prolly not even 20 lol. I have been in it on 14 and it was rough and then he started putting oil out the bottom of the motor by the quarts. Not good. I'm just waiting to see, hopefully the race will happen before winter hits lol
