Z28
Out for a drive this eve
Pull up on the fwy behind a Z28 Convert..circa 1998? Has the duals and Z28 badge..so it's for real.
Didn't think too much of it...pulled along side side to see what's up...nothing.
Minding my own business..but keep him in *view*....
he pulls along side for a *look*..nothing more..ok..
drops back and all is well.
Out of the corner of my eye I see the Z take off..flooring it, so I do the same. Absolutely leave this thing in the dust...not even close. I would estimate the roll was from from 75 -100. I really expected some catching up on my part, since the Z had the momentum going forward. Never saw him..only when I lifted.
I then pulled up along side to see *whatever*... he's looking at my car with the classic
I can imagine..looking as this *POS* Cobalt....
That's what I love about this car...looks like a fu##kn chevy econobox...
then it KILLS your A$$$.

I was just pointing it out
I wasn't trying to sound like a smartass when I made my first comment. Was just trying to say a LS1 car would be a closer race and be more exciting to run. I have 2 friends with LT1 cars running in the 11's N/A. I know what they can do, just the average one is nothing special.

I'm a little confused as to how you left him in the dust from 75-100 mph. A 25 mph gap is too short of a run to do much of anything, especially if the Z28 got the jump. Not calling BS, just trying to picture it in my head. My guess is that his car/or he didn't downshift quick enough, or at all.

I have timed my car (tuned) at 6.3 sec from 60-100..so this (75-100) was accomplished in prolly 4 sec. Given his lower HP and greater weight...I doubt that he was doing more than 85ish at the end of those 4 sec. So, yes it was a brief *race*...didn't need to take it any *further*... waste of time at that point and then I become *ticket bait* ( I just got one this week).

anything can happen on the street. just one thing is i can never tell when the other person goes all out unless there right beside me. i am not chooseing sides but it sure looks like to me that the maro was not full throttle. if two cars are two lanes apart how does a person tell when they are raceing or not,

Anyway..this wasn't a *knock down drag out affair*...blink of an eye stuff. In fact I was debating whether to post this up at all. Certainly not as exciting as other encounters here.

Either way, if the Z28 was wide open or not it would have been a kill. He is putting down as much power as the Z28 with an LT1 had stock so even with a few upgrades the Z28 would likely lose, Smart money goes to the V-8 in the end if he mods the **** out of it though... There is no replacement for displacement.

I get the same fuel mileage in my 1995 turbo diesel suburban 2500 4X4 as I do in the balt. I tend to not be very gentle with the go pedal. Me hearts boost! I didn't get the balt for fuel economy, or looks. I got it because of the LNF, plain and simple. If I wanted gas mileage I could have got an aveo... And if you want good economy in a camaro they have the V-6... I heard the V-6 comes with a lifetime supply of tampons too. A fast car is there because guys like me want brutal acceleration, attention getting sound, and speed.
